Recommend the Hans Brinker Hostel-very clean...good location plus does have a huge bar and also does indonesian food at quite reasonable prices...last time I went which was a few years ago.

Bets way to go to Amsterdam if you're wanting a laff is with the DFDS--overpriced food which u shld stay clear off but great cabaret- they sail from Newcastle and also from hmmm someone help me out here.

Amsterdam is rather expensive to go out and about, expect to be paying more than London prices for the beer (although the Bavaria on tap is rather lovely) so if youre eating out and going to bars take at least £25 a day. I definitely recommend a trip to the Heineken Museum, costs the same as three drinks, you get three drinks- three of the nicest drinks of lager in my life and you get a free glass when you go as well! at least you can say you sampled the culture! As i say, the Bulldog hostel (www.bulldog.nl) is extremely good value to stay, and is less than a 5 minute walk to the city centre.

amsterdam is a joke now

euro has finished that place forever...the prices are stupid out there now, bring back the guilder!!

anyway in regards to a hotel, best thing u can do is turn up and bargain, i've been 6 times and always do it this way its much cheaper just say "guy next door is 30 euro's per night"...works everytime lol

apart from that alcohol is too expensive and you cant even smoke in doors now unless you dont use tobbacco.......which is just asking for trouble!!

the Ibis, right in the centre.. canny prices, poss some codes on here as well..

Sailing from Newcastle or Hull, althought living in London will probs be cheaper flying.

Which airport/s can you fly FROM?

EDIT: Standstead - Amst Return Leaving 23, returning 26/27 £62.00
