This is not a "hot deal" but rather solution for techies.

Zoom 5801 VoIP device got interesting feature - PSTN passthrough.
Imagine that you have mobile phone with a lot of inclusive minutes. In this case you can configure Zoom 5801 to make international calls from your mobile at VoIP prices.

Here is how it works:
1. Dial your home phone number
2. Zoom answers the call (special dial tone I guess).
3. Dial access password.
4. Get dial tone
5. Make call.

Your mobile provider will charge you as a normal landline call and your VoIP provider will charge you as an international call. This should be much cheaper than dialling international numbers from your mobile.

I haven't tried it myself (yet) as it took me almost whole day just to get dang thing to work at all. But it should be possible with some effort :)

I'll try to do my best then :) Not sure if there will be quick solution though - my Caller ID doesn't work on NTL line. And those morons (I am talking about NTL - and methink that "moron" is a very mild description) are not intelligent enough to enable it on my line.
Without Caller ID this feature won't work securely - how ATA is supposed to know that this is your call? You can of course tell to ATA to answer ALL calls and then request password but is this what you really want? :)

OK, tried it today and it does work. However, its not good for me as (see above) those bad from NTL can't get Caller ID working.
So here is what I've done. Later I'll explain what should be done :)

1. Login to Zoom 5801 ATA
2. Advanced->Subscription services->Bridging between PSTN and VoIP
3. Bridge From PSTN to VoIP: Enable
4. Auto-Answer PSTN (FXO) Calls: Enable
5. FXO Port Accept Any Call: Enable6. Caller Password: Enable
7. Password Dial String: 123456
8. Leave everything else at defaut values.
9. Save and reboot.

Now dial your home phone number. The phone won't ring! You will hear different dialtone instead. Dial your password in (as specified above) and voila!

This setup is only good when you are away from home and nobody else is in there to answer calls. Otherwise here is what should be done (changes are in italics:

1. Login to Zoom 5801 ATA
2. Advanced->Subscription services->Bridging between PSTN and VoIP
3. Bridge From PSTN to VoIP: Enable
4. Auto-Answer PSTN (FXO) Calls: Enable
5. FXO Port Accept Any Call: Disable
6. FXO Port Accept Only These Numbers. Select 01 and type in your number as it appears on your caller ID screen. Remember, this is NOT your home number but rather one you'll be calling from. Your mobile phone, for example.
7. Caller Password: Enable
8. Password Dial String: 123456
8. Leave everything else at defaut values.
9. Save and reboot.

I did not had a chance to test all of the functionality for reasons stated above. But basic stuff is working for me. :)

P.S. Remember to setup password to something sensible :) Don't leave it 123456 ;)
