Cheap mince.

Thought I would share a money saving idea .

Quite often the large supermarkets sell vacuum packed pork/beef very cheap.

Recently these vacuum packed top side/top rump/silverside packs in Tesco /Sainsbury have been cheaper per kg than their finest mince.

So why not mince a top rump or cube it for curries/ casseroles. You know whats in it and how lean it really is.

Vacuum packed pork is ridiculously priced at the moment.,

My local Tesco also had cubed best braising on offer at the meat counter at £3.50 per kg last night, where as their off the counter finest mince was £4 a kg. So buy the best braising and mince yourself.

Purchased my mincer at Robert Dyas for £9.99. works well although would like a finer mincer. 3 plates with varying hole sizes supplied.

Lol...nice 1:thumbsup:

Good tip too, saves the pennies AND you know exactly whats going in and the quality

Highly useful...not the sort of tip I would expect to see on this site, but useful nevertheless!

Frozen or fresh?

you may find frozen beef quite hard to mince.

you could always try using a grater!!!

B******s! I just skimmed this item and I'm now thinking gently casseroled beef in a rich gravy with a lump of stilton cooked in to give it a bit of a kick, new potatoes etc.

And here am I stuck behind this bloody desk and the chocolate machine is empty.

Perhaps it shows when I was a student I mainly worked in the meat department of Sainsbury's

In the days before there was so much pre pack.
And the bags of **** that came in specially to be minced did not put me off lol.
