Thought I would share a money saving idea .
Quite often the large supermarkets sell vacuum packed pork/beef very cheap.
Recently these vacuum packed top side/top rump/silverside packs in Tesco /Sainsbury have been cheaper per kg than their finest mince.
So why not mince a top rump or cube it for curries/ casseroles. You know whats in it and how lean it really is.
Vacuum packed pork is ridiculously priced at the moment.,
My local Tesco also had cubed best braising on offer at the meat counter at £3.50 per kg last night, where as their off the counter finest mince was £4 a kg. So buy the best braising and mince yourself.
Purchased my mincer at Robert Dyas for £9.99. works well although would like a finer mincer. 3 plates with varying hole sizes supplied.
