Cheaper Internet Provider?

I currently use Tiscali who charge me £14.99 a month and includes free weekend calls. However, I also pay BT something like £13 a month for line rental. Is there a cheaper way of doing this? Read More

ive got the same package as the OP and ive tried sky, tiscali to have the phone and net, Ive gone back to bt for my calls and landine and stayed with tiscali for my net
our sky phone bills alone wereover £60 a month and over £45 with tiscali, now we have phone bills around £20 amonth and then the net £14.99( we dont use the phone much)
my advice would be stay as you are it'll work out cheaper in the end

With respect, you cant really say that as different areas have different suppliers offering different packages. I pay £26.95 a month for line rental, unlimited UK calls & 20mb unlimited broadband.

The OP may be in a cable area.

How on earth did you get bills for £60 if you dont use the phone much?

Maybe the OP should consider getting rid of their telephone and using an internet phone.

You tried the postoffice? Talk Talk, BT Total Broadband with the Hub phone?

What about Orange Home Max? It's £24 and includes broadband and an additional line (second line) with inclusive calls to UK landlines, Orange mobiles and free calls to 30 international destinations.

It also includes Home Phone services with free evening and weekend calls
to UK landlines beginning 01 and 02. No need to pay BT line rental.

BT Option 1 £10 month

As some of the suggestions above would rather have the plague than most recommendations most have been slated and not just once, Orange: worst BB provider, Virgin, just a joke, Post Office, your not serious, Talk Talk, verging on insanity, don't believe me ? try Google....

As with all companies, some people have good and bad expirences. I gave the OP a choice. You base your dislike of these companies on what you have read do you?

But your suggestion is the worst of the lot. BT are terrible. They have their only weekly spot on watchdog these days :-D

My brother got charged £380 after asking for a phone line to be re-connected and £320 of that was for calls yet he is staill awaiting re-connection after 6 months! Can never get through to customer services and he rings at least every other day from his mobile but get cut off after 10-20 minutes each time.

I have virgin and have to say they are excellent. I even sliced through my cable connection by mistake and rang them and they had an engineer around the following morning at no charge. BB has never failed in 3 years and prices are very cheap.

No, let's get something straight, you don't know me, you don't know who I work for, or even if I do, you don't know what I know or don't know, I could be a 14 yr old school kid, I could be a 40 yr old with 20 yrs experience in telecoms, I base my dislike AND comments on what I know, not on what I read, you base your comments on what you think you know but you don't know me.

Yes people experience different levels of service with each provider but let's face the truth shall we, look at the percentage of people that have bad experiences with those mentioned it outweighs the plus points and one or two 'I think they're great' comments on here doesn't mean anything, hence the Google (don't take my word for it) reference.

Your recommendations (and csiman) say a lot, don't get too upset when someone doesn't agree with you, you'll get over it, (eventually).

and again, you have no idea what I do for a living, but I'll let you know. I'm an Openreach CSE, previosuly UG maintenance but now do alot of ADSL faulting. So I do have fair knowledge in the field. I'm quite happy for you to disagree with me, but you give no facts as to why people should avoid these companies, give me so reasons as to why people should avoid the Post Office and Talk Talk, I visit customers of both these companies on a daily basis, some are happy some aren't but alot of the time the pople have expierenced poor service is due to the cable in the ground or peoples own internal wiring, which the CP has no control over. I'm a BT Broadband customer, purely for the fact I get it for free as an employee.

Still waiting to hear how you know so much about ADSL and who you work for, as you are the resident expert.
