Cheapest/Best Double Glazing

Hi everyone,

I've just bought a new flat (third floor in a 1910's tenement) which has pretty old and draughty single UPVC glazing at the front and old sash and case (is that right?) at the back. I'm looking at getting these replaced with double glazing - can anyone recommend a good company in or around Glasgow?

And what's the process, do I need to let loads of these guys in to my flat so they can measure up and give me quotes?

Any help would be much appreciated, cheers!

A lot of dg places are hit and miss. I used safestyle, in and out in a day, only had a couple of minor issues in 6 years which they have immediately come and fixed. My sister used them and had terrible problems, ill-fitting frames, draughrs, handles breaking, not coming out on appointed days.....

I certainly would never recommend anyone on that basis.

Anyway, I'll just say that of course you have to let them in. How else will they measure up for a quote? And get as many as you can and remember, most expensive doesn't neccessarily mean the best.

One option could be to measure up yourself and advertise the job on 'ratedpeople' or 'my hammer' (Google) that way you can look at reviews left by people who have already used them. You'll probably only get an estimate (non-binding, as opposed to a quote) until they come and measure themselves.

also check out if there are any restrictions on the types of windows you can have. I live in a converted warehouse, and we have to have approved windows, so can only use one company.
