Hi all,

My mums after some advice on which broadband to get, she is currently with BT but is not happy with them, and the contract expires shortly.

I know about computers, but no idea which is the cheapest for the money ISP these days.

Any tips?

Rep will be given for proper replies.

Cheers

If she's got a Sky t.v. package(or Virgin) then that would be a good place to start, then compare the others, Difficult to know where to start. e.g. is she a light user? i.e. 2 gigs a month, 10 g a month 20 g ?

Light user with a Sky package, 2g broadband free with Sky talk. Sky talk is free for the basic package.

Or do as I did. Phoned BT and spoke to them about leaving as O2 were doing 2 months free and 10 months at £10. BT then basically matched their offer. Saved me the hassle of moving elsewhere as I've been really happy with their service. Might be worth a try.

For a deals site people here don't often link to some rubbish comparison sites.

Unfortunately these days broadband prices are dependant on where you live in that the big and cheap LLU providers (TalkTalk, O2, Sky etc.) are only available at certain phone exchanges.

Why was she unhappy with BT? If you go cheap then one of the most obvious sacrifices you make is quality so you don't want to get her tied in with another ISP that does the same thing - especially as cheap also generally means long contracts.

it maybe a rubbish site as u put it, but its informative for the person who asked about it,his/her choice to shop around and the site gives an idea of some of the prices on there, yes there are others around but i gave that as an example:)
