Cheapest place for a Iphone ? Unlocked ? Plus 3G or 3Gs ??

The other half has now said she wants a Iphone after looking at her mates..

I know nothing about iphones, so looking for advice.

Shes not bothered for massive storage, ie 8GB will be fine,

Whats the differances between a 3G and 3GS (8GB)

Net surfing speed is not a massive issue for her,

Does the 3G have WI-FI ?

Wheres the cheapest place to buy one?

Rather than get another contract, she has a SIM ONLY, with 500MB £20.00 a month with Vodafone which may be worth keeping and just buying the phone.

Can you buy any re-furb'ed Iphone with 12 months warretny from Vodafone?

Thanks
Thanks

They won't give you the contracts any cheaper, tried a dozen times, and they say its not them that introduces the prices its apple.

At the moment the cheapest place is prob tesco, vodafone don't do refurbs, if you want a decent sim only iphone contract I'd look at what O2 have to offer as their simplicity contracts with unlimited data start at £15 per month 12 month contract.

Just logged into VODAFONE online, and can purchase a IPHONE refurbed but on contract...

I would be looking at purchasing a IPHONE only... no contract..

I will look at TESCO. -

Also 3G or 3GS and why ?

you cant get an 8gb 3gs m8-3gs is faster for internet/satnav etc-cheapest place to buy one outright is tesco, you get a sim with one years unlimited internet included.

but cant you only use tesco sim cards in the tesco pay as you go ones

If you want a 3gs there is only a choice between 16gb or 32gb whereas 3g comes in 8, 16 and 32gb only differance is speed mainly.

Is that net speed, or the processor speed of the handset ?

Just looked on TESCO, cant find the deal for phone only...

does the 3G 8GB have WI-FI and GPS ?

(The only reason the other half wants a phone is cause im getting one! ARG!)

And...... just found Vodafone’s Employee Advantage Programme which i can get via work, 20% off any contract over £20.00 (just got to give Vodafone mthe new account number within 30 days of opening the account or upgrade)

thanks

Only O2 are offering an unlock (15 quid), so yes. Only a Tesco sim will work it a Tesco iPhone.

Not sure if the new firmware been cracked yet for a jailbreak ??

Apparently you can put an O2 sim in because they use the O2 network, apparently you have to do that first, not put a tesco one then an o2 one. I am not sure if this breaks any rules though. You can unlock it after 12 months if not.

Also when OS 4.0 is released in summer, the 'multi-tasking' feature will only be available on the 3GS iphone not 3G.

Just looking for the best deal overall, dont want to get stuck in a 24 month contract, looking for the cheapest month outgoing option for line rental.

Got no objections with buying the phone first.

ok well assuming you are happy with your current vodafone sim only deal, I may have an iphone 3gs for you? sealed and locked to vodafone. So this might be what you are looking for?

Update...

Yesterday I called into the Vodafone shop @ Trafford and purchased a 3GS 16GB from them, was not cheap, but it was on Vodafone and kept the other half happy...

Upgraded her sim only contract to £20 a month, 600 mins and 1gb net, unlimited text..

Short term the overall cost is cheaper..

Once shes board of it.. I will let you know........................ speak in a few weeks! LOL !
