Not sure about Asda/Tesco, but Aldi have a high wage for their staff, no idea if they have any branches in Scotland though.

I can't answer this myself, but I was wondering, does anyone knows what Sainsbury's low-level or supervisor staffers get paid? I wouldn't mind doing a few hours at my local branch, partly for the sake of the money, but mostly for the discounts and because there are at least six super-cute girls working at my local branch, and I don't get nearly enough time to chat them up normally.

most shops are minimum wage...think it is £5.85 per hour....it is at the co-op anyway

they pay checkout operators less than other workers? never knew that. thought all supermarkets paid the same rate no matter what job you did.

in our store, checkouts get more than the shelf stackers, but less than the CS

if your under 18 its about £5.90, over 18 then its £6.40 ish depending on department (fish counters get more)

team leaders / supervisors get £9 an ish, then managers are on fixed salary of upto £25k ish depending on heirarchy e.g. department manager paid less than the section manager

but surely its illegal to pay under 18s less? asda used to do this and changed about a year ago when the new laws were brought in-asda being the penny pinchers they are surely this is industry standard now?

about £5,70 but can go up dependant on age

Its about £6 but increases when you have been there 6 months and then after a year. All staff get paid the same, checkouts or shelf stackers etc.

Mkae sure you dont get contracted to a Sunday, firstly beacase you will have to work a sunday but also if you keep it free and decide to work it a few times a month as overtime, you will get time and half whereas contracted staff just get a premium....think its about £1 extra/hour.

they pay under 18 less as the minimum wage is less .... also with tesco you get 10% discount after 6 months, (worth upto £720 per year) and free shares after 1 year,

+1, plenty of branches in Scotland.

It totally depends where you work, as tesco have a thing called location pay which decides the cost of living in your area. In Edinburgh it is 6.95 an Hour for a Tesco till operator
#18
nightshift rates are also different as with the location

In Asda at Aberdeen there are 2 lots of pay new world and i cant remember the other one. You get more money on the new world one but you also have to work a weekend day and there are a few other things they can make you do. I think its about £5.70-£6
