I've seen people asking for cars and motorbikes. I asked the moderator if I could request an S Class Mercedes: she seemed quite OK with this and said somebody had recently given away a 50" plasma TV so anything is possible.

And i thought my friend was bad! Shes always putting wants on for anything she wants instead of going to a shop and buying it like everyone else

Unbelievable how many cheeky gits you get on Freecycle. My mum has given a few things away on there and she says 90% of the people inquiring are really rude and somehow think just because they sent a message they're entitled to it over everyone else. She even said when people have come to pick things up they're not really all that grateful. Wouldn't be surprised if they just sell the stuff on..

Personally, if I had something to get rid of I'd either find someone to give it to (i.e. responding to someone's wanted thread so you know they genuinely need the item) or give it to a charity shop where they'll make some money off of it and pass it on to people who really are in need - not greedy tight-wads.

I see people on here registering their interest in free giveaways just for the hell of it too. Wonder how many people actually need the stuff they're asking for? There should be a rule on here that says people responding to free giveaways have to state why they "need" the item in question. Bet half the people just chuck the thing in a cupboard and never use it or sell it on.

Damn, that turned into a bit of a rant!

The sil went for a shed advertised on freecycle a while ago, it said good condition, buyer dismantles and removes. Fair enough he thought, goes to the place and the shed was just about good enough to be still standing, the cheeky git had a rotten shed and thought he could stitch somebody up into taking it away for him free of charge...

I gave away a 4ft fish tank on free cycle complete with heater, light etc... someone asked for it and I said yes let me know what sort of time you can collect it, he replied saying ill be there at 11:30pm tonight!! I said sorry but thats a bit late can you come in the evening tomorrow? He replied saying well I don't know ill check with my brother in law. He then replied at 10:30 that night saying my brother in law will be at yours at 7:30am!!
Anyway in the end we managed to arrange a decent time and he turned up and had the cheek to ask if there was a stand for it too!

I have been lucky with giving things away. Always had polite people collect. But I never reply to the 100's of rude emails that just say " is it still there" or " I will have it" and thats it in the email. Never a please or thanks.
