My eldest got it twice but it was a mild version both times.

The second time she had it passed it onto my Hubby who'd never had it as a child, he was really poorly with it.

Hope your little one feels better soon.

Don't think you can get it twice to be honest. Hope your little man gets well soon.

Yes you can get it twice, its more likely if the first dose is mild, something to do with not enough antibodies in your system.
Don't forget to add Bicarb to his bath, it helps stop the itching.
Hope he feels better soon.

hehe...number 1 always has u dashing to docs... saying that when its medical related u wil go running for number 2,3,4,5,6,hehehe! i have 2, but i have been soooooo rubbish with taking him clinic.... HV rang and forced me to come n have him checked out as he has been a&E with hip sprian and docs with fit related issues....kinda had to let them know and hadn't bothered... thing is the HV's really annoy me as i find them patroninzing..... my first one was chubby but his weight is fine now...number 2 is also on 91st percentile line ...i do what they say...but i know my kids arent sitting there munching chocs and wat not....thats just them.... ok im ranting... basically... errm..gone off on a tangent havent i!

Yes, children can have chicken pox more than once.
Agree with your health visitor, then do your own thing. Most of them are useless and talk a load of c***
Don't worry about going to the doctors, that's what they are there for.

Hey i have 3 children and i am always worried, you would think i would have calmed down by child 3 but im worse with her than the 1st or 2nd.
My elder two had chicken pox last year a day or two before we went on holiday it was awful.

The health visitor I had for both of my children was useless, all she knew was from books, she was a spinster who had never had children!

Yeah, same as my HV. She was so evil, my mom had a go at her for me as I'm too timid lol. I was changing my son the one time and I'd popped him on the side and was stood next to him but didn't put him on the changing mat they provide in case it had other kids wee on it, so I got a telling off "as he could roll off", I was stood right next to him holding him as I was changing him!!! If someone heard the convo, they'd have thought I was stood on the other side of the room and left him to dangle there by himself!!!! :x Stupid HV's don't usually have kids, or they follow the book they are given to preach out of instead of realising all kids are individual. :x

End of rant :whistling:

wow...i thought i was the only one who didnt like my HV! suze its really annoying when they dont have kids themselves..not saying they cant do the job but u wish they would be more understanding then!

midj i agree.... u as a mum know what u r doing...sometims feel HVs overstep their boundaries and get too involved....

its weird cos all the other mums seem to love the HVs whereas they make me cringe... there are 2 here....one is blooming scary to talk to... the other is overly weird!

The HV we have isnt that bad. altho... she has an eye that has a mind of its own. i cant help but stare at it ;(

yet another multiple sufferer here. i've had chicken pox 3 times as well as shingles once. both my kids have also had chicken pox on more than one occasion. its an old wives tale (according to my doctor) that you can only get it once. he told me that even if you have a severe case you can get it again once your antibodies diminish.

my 2 eldest have had them 3 times too!
my 5,2 & 1/2 and 8 month old have not had them as yet......
#21
ive had it twice not had to go through it with my daughter yet, and i hate doctors lol dont trust any of them, my brother was really ill and was taken to the doctors they said it was just a bug, so we took him to a&e got the same things dont worry its just a bug, we then traveled to a hospital further away found out his appendix burst they said he was really lucky and left for another few hours he could of died

I thought you could only get once, obviously not!

My eldest got it 1st,probably from school, then youngest caught it about 2 or 3 wks later,I didn't think she would but she did. We were going on holiday and it just cleared up only days or so before.

Hope he feeling better soon.
#24
off to docs.... will let u know wat doc reckons it is....

bby xxxx... thats awful what could have happened to ur bro!
#25
Good luck magicbeans and hope your little one soon feels better.

ok jus got back from ultra **** doctors.... didnt realise it was his emeegnecy surgery (there are 2 docs and i never see this one as he is lame!)

anyways he was adament u cant get CP twice.... becauseof that he wasnt interested. firstly he said, u cant get CP on the face... as baby has a few on his face.. he thought u only got CP on torso... i kinda looked at him oddly and then he went....o yeah u can.... but he hasnt got it.... he wouldnt even look..so i showed him the one on his thigh and he said o yeah that does look like one... but he cant get it twice.. so he hasnt got it! he reckons its just a viral infection.... he checked torso but couldnt see anything there.... most he would stretch to is.... put camimle on him if he needs it..... well duh...is it CP then....?!?! accoring to him its some other viral infection that gives u spots that look like CP! ok then!
#27
thanks sigma.... both mine have eczema...its hard work all year round,...just keep changing creams to keep somewhat on top of it.
#28
Chicken pox goes face, scalp the lot.Get more on chest and arms, but do get it elsewhere too.
#29
I'm no doctor but, my daughter had chicken pox twice without a doubt. Granted it was mild in both cases. Piriton will ease the itching.

My youngest has eczema adnd uses a cream on repeat prescription from the doctor called Cetraben emollient cream, seems to help her.
#30
well no more spots at mo..... still poorly and got diarrhea as well..... gonna keep eye on the ones he has.... he might have a very mild case or just random spots....seeing the doc was pointless though!

cetraban is good...but i have to keep changing creams.... that works best..they go... cetraban, diprobase, epaderm, lush cream and round again..... just vary it works.
#31
You just reminded me Lush Cream...........my daughter found The Dream Cream worked for a spell until she got used jto it. But, as you say if you rotate use would probably work again.

Awww....hope your little one improves

The second time she had it passed it onto my Hubby who'd never had it as a child, he was really poorly with it.

Same thing happened to me. My eldest passed it on to his younger brother - and me. It knocked me for 6 for a couple of days! A bit like very bad flu (ie very weak and tired) but with itchy spots!

I certainly dont want it again!

I thought chicken pox could only be caught once - and the second time was shingles?
