Depends on insurance company - Windscreens are normally repaired free, read the print on your policy (some charge)

You have a suspicious nature ........................its all true:thumbsup:

it may not affect your NCB with them but if you go elsewhere for a renewal quote you have to declare the claim so could affect future premiums

might be cheaper in the long run to just get a repair.

ive just called auto glass today for the chip in my screen. ive called my insurance and they say that my insurance or no claims will not be affected as long as i repair it before the chip becomes a crack

Most companies make no charge at all, for a screen repair.

Aviva of course make a charge of £10.:x

This is yet another sneaky charge by them.

Autoglass charge £80 if you don't want to do it through insurance but it comes with a lifetime warranty where by they will replace the entire windscreen if it turns to a crack.

Direct Line policy states you do. It probably varies with insurers

there is a way to get it free change insurance companies to one that dont have sneaky charges as fo 95% of insurance companies dont charge and its free but is it worth the hassle id just pay the £10

Don't use Aviva in future almost all insurers make no charge to repair a crack.

Iv'e just had autoglass out yesterday for a chip in my windscreen and I never had to pay anything..0nly thing was if it could't have been repaired would have had to pay £50 excess

Direct Line / Privillege charge £10 for Chip repairs :x The std glass excess is £75.

It's worth checking your excesses carefully - My car was broken in to - they broke the glass, damaging the window frame and nicked a power cable from the glove box - my theft excess with Privillege was a sneaky £250 - and they only cover up to £200 of contents - all I could do was have the glass replaced (£75 excess) :x

pay the £10 before it gets any bigger, once it turns inot a crack then you will nedd to pay the full windscreen excess that your insurer charges, especially with these frosty cold mornings there is more of a chance of it getting bigger.
smaller than a £1 or £2 coin they can repair, any bigger and it's a new windscreen
