Chipped 360 modded (not soft mod) do i need to update firmware and how?

My pops has bought a 360 chipped from a local market about 2 months ago, he's bought about 30 games and they worked fine, recent releases are not working!

Do I need to update firmware?

Has the console been chipped? (could the had sold it as chipped but just softmodded it?

How would i go about getting the games working.

Many thanks

Antony

you will most likely need it upgrading to 1.6

take it back to the market and as if they upgrade them?

if not im sure someone on here might be able to point you in the direction someone who does, if you want to do it your self there are certain things you will need, if you google xbox 360 flashing there will be loads of tutorials telling you how to do it

Yes you need to update to firmware 1.51 or 1.6 to play the latest games

Check gumtree for your area, you can normally find someone that is willing to do it for £20-£30 or find someone on http://xbox360iso.com/forumdisplay.php?f=26

it's definitely just been firmware flashed, since that is all you can do to a 360, there is no mod chip and never has been.

Are you 100% as I will take the person to task who sold the 360 as chipped (in a conserative manner :) )

Well I have to admit I hadn't seen that, all I'd even seen was devices that flashed the drive firmware for you, whereas that seems to have an actual eeprom on board to hold it's own copy of the flashed firmware on it and act as an intermediate. tho unless they're compatible with the liteons I can't see any point as to their existence. I don't see ow it would afford you any more protection and you'd still have to break open your xbox to install it.

so ??? i dunno.

if you're smart and own a hair dryer btw you can open your 360 without breaking the seal.
