ChoicesUK Nintendo DS thread gone?

yesterday there was a thread that was a for Nintendo DS lite at £79 but with damaged boxes - it was hot rated over 600 this morning but now the thread has gone -apparently deleted?...why is this - if it was a scam why delete the thread - why not put that its a scam on the last thread and lock it?....

I suspect its a scam for this reason - I just got an email from them saying this:
which seems really unusual for a £80 order - hardly high value!

I am writing further to your recent order:

Because your order is of a large value and also because it is your first order with us - we will need additional proof of identity before we can proceed with the order for you.

This is to ensure that your card is not being used without your knowledge.

Please can you contact me on 0870 4003838 so that I may take your full card details and billing address to confirm that this is a genuine order. You can call between the hours of 9am to 8pm Monday to Friday.

Your order will not be processed until we hear back from you with this information. If I do not hear from you within the next 5 days I will cancel your order.

Many Thanks

that seems really really odd to me.... is this why the thread has been deleted?
why do threads like this get deleted...surely if identified as a scam it should be left on as a warning to others....

confused

It's been expired as they've sold out...

I have been searching for the thread but cant find it - this site seems really difficult to find some old threads, do expired threads not show up on searches?

ChoicesUK are fine to buy from.

Not by default.

When you see the results of the search, there is a link just under the red Submit button, that says "include Expired". Click on it.

The phone number is a legitimate number for Choices. Give them a ring to confirm

I've just checked as I had to order one for a friend and the status is awaiting dispatch. Everything else checks out fine OP.

I'd have thought "extra security" was a positive thing. It looks like it's simply because it's your first order with them. Just give them a quick phone call and I'm sure everything will be fine :)

Yeah, I can understand why you are concerned. But ChoicesUK are legit and like Hottoshop says, it is their number, so give them a call and see what they say.

This is their non 0870 number: 01733 232800

Hi fretdancer,

Due to the value of your first order with us, your order will have been caught in credit hold as a preventative measure against fraud. This is a standard procedure and once your details have been confirmed by our customer service team, you will not need to call in again
