we're having the same trouble, but for the day after boxing day...erring towards hiring the village hall and getting caterers or getting some trays of party food from Costco.

You could go to Chinatown, bet there'd be somewhere there...

mind blown at forcing your religion on your unaware baby

Does it have to be a restaurant? How about a local pub?

@lumoruk:

As they're unaware I doubt they'll understand the full connotation until much later at which point they'll be given the choice of going to church or watching Scrapheap Challenge...besides our 150 year old christening gown only comes in one size...baby!

It's not a buffet but the pub at Great Whittingham (name escapes me) is good...going there for my sister's birthday next sunday...

I'm betting that the OP does not attend Church regularly, do you though?

nope! Because i was given the choice when i was old enough, however was still christened. Never once felt as if i was having religion forced down my throat :) My wife is Catholic, and part of our wedding vows was that children would be christened catholic. This way we keep our promise and then it's up to the little one whether it becomes part of her life or not :)

nope!

well that was obvious

never suggested otherwise my friend! But none of this is helping the OP find a party venue as i'm guessing that the christening is none negotiable!! ;)
...there are some good pubs down corbridge way as well......

my uncle is footing the bill but is it custom for people to pay their own food or the parents gonna pay for it|?

i want him grow up with catholic faith
i am not even baptised myself despite the fact that my mum is a devout catholic, the type that go to mass every sunday and gathering every other week

the reason she give me: i dun want you to have a religion that will clash with ur husband, better baptise when you are ready urself:roll:

i dun want my son to miss out, and i will go to sunday class with him

You invite people to the christening, you foot the bill.

Typical.......... OP wants help with a VENUE.

Not an argument whether christening/baptism is acceptable.
#16
i need help with venue as i notice theres no small cosy restaurant for family event

instead is all bar meal
stress

It may help if you are a bit more precise with the location, Newcastle area is a pretty big area!
#18
what if i invite people to my birthday party, will i still be paying for them?

strange cuz whenever i get invited i always end up paying my own food + gift for the host/bday boy girl
