how much is the parking next door, does it blow the savings away?

Apparently you can park there all day for £4: http://en.parkopedia.com/parking/carpark/leicester_abbey_street/le1/leicester/

Not sure how good that is as I live near enough to walk.

Very close to Highcross - the cinema is on Abbey Street, right by Leicester St Margaret's bus station (so just a bit further clockwise round the ring-road, just past the A6 turn-off.)

Me too - didn't it have a long spell of just doing Bollywood stuff?

Great deal. It's not Leicester's only City Centre cinema any more though - as the OP has already pointed out it's near to Highcross Shopping centre which is home to a brand spanking new Showcase Cinema DeLux.This is why they've had to lower ticket prices I assume, to compete with Cinema DeLux. They did go through a period of mainly screening Bollywood flicks.

Cheers, have edited the post now to reflect that. IMO Cinema de Lux is very nice, but its a bit pricey.

Took the kids there to see Walle when it first opened - it was a bit of an experience! We were the only customers in the place (on a weekday afternoon) - the manager was hoovering when we arrived and had to unlock the kiosk specially to serve us stale popcorn, and there were no seats on the rather unpleasant toilets (not great with young children). I have to admit that I was slightly nervous at the thought of being a woman on my own in there, as there were a few men hanging about in the lobby. So I would much rather pay a bit more for the infinitely nicer surroundings of the cinema de lux in Highcross. I think it's definitely a case of 'you get what you pay for'!
