Clarification on posting deals after 'heads up' deals

Mikey91Mikey91

Are they classed as spam? Most of the Currys deals have now been marked as spam as there has been a 'heads up' deal which didn't list any specific deal.

So what's the stance of the site?

Some have been allowed to stay (like the iPad deal) whilst most others have been spammed. Bit of inconsistency?

so if i was to post a heads up great deals to be had at HUKD then therefore every other deal technically would be spam :)

you can spam the iPad if you want.. this should be in feedback really aswell, but i would like clarification on this topic too...

personally i am apposed to some posting a group deal, then individuals listing every item individually from that deal as seperate deals... they are not seperate deals, they probably havent even been found by the individuals...

all it does is flood HUKD with multiple deals all from the same retailer and under the same premis and hides other deals....

i think mods may be inclined to disagree as it might affect the number of refferals from the site?

all heat attributed to the individual deals should be added to the collective deal, just make that one of the hottest of the day

I have no problem with 'bulk' deals that list many items in one thread. But this heads up didn't list anything originally, it was just a general 'heads up'. I only listed a few of the best deals in my opinion as I didn't want to spam the new deals feed. Granted, I found the deals via the iPad deal but not the heads up deal.

And also I'm not going to spam the iPad deal as it's a great deal in its own right.

The black friday deals are annoying as they are not very good lol,

its been a bit of a let down so far

Deals off the back of a thread "heads up" are absolutely fine.

We are trying to return any that have been member spammed (as long as they are not duplicates) as soon as possible.

But heads ups belong in misc as they are not deals anyway?

I think the difference here is probably the over-use of the phrase "heads up" for everything that has been posted which doesn't have an active deal yet as opposed to something that will probably happen.

Apple's Friday thread is definitely a heads up, it has no products or prices I spammed it it was returned. I reported it, it was ignored. But some moron keeps returning it. It is not a deal and needs removing.

I probably wasn't clear enough - the Apple promotion is confirmed by the retailer (or it had enough evidence to suggest it was going to happen) so it quite rightly stayed in deals.

Moving forward (and if you are not happy with this explanation) it might just be easier to hit "Report" and then a decision can be made on it.

Once an unconfirmed "heads up" appears and it is moved to Misc will I be able to give you a working example of how things should (however I appreciate they probably always dont) go.

Same thing has happened with the Autumn Steam Deals as usual. Most the individual deal which always have much more interesting comments have been spammed leaving just the initial headsup where the long list is sometimes updated. Individual deals have not been recovered despite requesting in the relevant thread.

Ok - I will take a look at that ASAP.
    N1K0LAI_DAN7E
Ok but now we conflict because just before mikey's post were made about individual blu rays, there was a general deal thread which brought attention to all the listings at currys but that got spammed due to the heads up existing, imo only that should be re-instated as that portrayed the deals for all to browse if not naming each individually, plus it was there first, appreciate the clarification though magicjay
    N1K0LAI_DAN7E
I think if even a really good deal is allready listed in a bundle thread it should not be allowed to be posted seperately, it has allready been found and posted by another member... A different one does not deserve the credit... Buts thats just my opinion
    N1K0LAI_DAN7E
P.s prime example of my gripe the other day was the BestBuy blu ray deal, Nicster posted the bundle deal, got about 300 degrees, then was followed by a succession of individual blu ray posts from he list reaching 600+ degrees, i postedavatar collectors edition blu ray for £2.50 but spammed my own deal because i realised it was a dupe, spammed everything else too...

Suppose one simple solution is dont allow multiple deals if you want long lists of the same stuff... That would solve it, plus some bundle deals only got hot for effort sometimes :/

well thats changed then as previously if there were no products or prices listed it was classed as a heads up and moved to misc, when did that change without anyone being told?
