I decided to pull out my Alien disc my Alien quad set last night. I remember having some issues with freezing here and there, so I looked at the back of the DVD, seeing lots of stuck stuck on and a few scratches. My efforts to get the stains off with just a cleaning glasses cloth failed, so I pulled out the deionised water I had sitting about and put that on the cloth.

...To cut a long story short, I've now managed to add more stains and scratches to the DVD. The DVD still works, but it freezes for a few seconds randomly - I counted around 5 freezes when I watched the film last night.

Any DVD Yoda about?

If its freezing randomly, sounds like the player itself needs a clean.....

I doubt it, the Alien DVD has always had issues.

My player isn't doing amazing right now...it's possible with the marks/scratches on my Alien DVD that the struggling laser is having more issues than usual reading it.

this works with DVD discs sometimes.

Wrap it in kitchen towel
pop it in the freezer for an hour or so
wipe the due off it with a tissue
then see if it will play ok or make a backup :)

Or chuck it in the microwave... (SERIOUSLY DON'T! lol).

I use monitor cleaning spray on mine, cleans just about anything with a smooth/glassy surface:thumbsup:

Helpful you are not.

I usually do. The Alien disc has always had issues, but I've obviously left it out of its case and touched it with my fingers for some reason. Quite annoying since it's part of a 9 DVD set.
