Clothes Sizes XL = 42, 44, or 46 inch chest!

I'll recently bought a few items of clothing found on Hot UK Deals only to find they did not fit. I'm normally XL but there is wide dissagreement for what this represents - it can be 42 or 44 or 46 inch chest! - found a useful table on the Littlewoods Site giving these sizes for various manufacturers.
