Club La Costa (timeshare like thing). Has anyone booked a cruise deal through them, if what like

We are thinking about buying a club la costa (timeshare like co). I am not too interested in the destinations/accomodation they have.

We are interested in the cruising side of it, where they get a better cruise deal than you can get at a travel agent.

Do you or know anyone that has booked a cruise through them & is it worth while - cost effective.

Thanks for all who reads or responds.

I own with CLC and although I haven't had any problems in the years I've had it, their
maintenanace costs are spiralling out of control.
If you do not want to be comitted to yearly bills for the rest of your life then think again.

THanks for links Karen, However both these links need sign ons i.e. user name & password details.

Have you or do you know anybody that has booked a cruise through club La Costa as they told us at the presentation that you can get a price down at travel agents, then call there travel club and they will get it 1/2 the price you were quotes.

This is the side that we are more interested in, that will decide if we buy it or not. If we can get cheaper cruises.

Thanks

Hi, don't know anyone who has used CLC Cruises but knowing the way they operate I'm just concerned that in the long run you may be tied into Timeshare costs.
In my personal opinion I would be very surprised if the overall cost would be half travel agents prices when you take into account CLC fees.
Sorry can't be of more help

What fee's are you talking about.

Is it the maintenance costs which is £415 a year or is there additional costs.

Thanks again

Yes maintenance fees, mine were £190 per year originally per week on joining in 1998 just paid £665 per week for this years fees.
As I said not used CLC cruises but as with other timeshares I have to add on the cost
of getting to resort plus food etc. If cruises set off from UK you only have that cost but
what if they leave from Med etc, do you have to pay for your own flights to meet the ship?

With regards to previous message naming websites, you can view the timeshare talk one

Thanks a lot Karen. I have sent them an email but I dont think they will price me with not being a member, but we shall see what happens.

They never said to us it was a points scheme. They told us that we can go on holiday at any time of the year for £99 from there own properties and £150 for RCI and any further then EU.

Told us to get a price from travel agane for cruise and they will most probably get it at least 50% of travel agents price.

We are not going to know if that is true as we will not be able to use there travel agent/booking dept until we sign up.

It all right saying get a price at your local travel agent and we will propably be at least 50% off but we dont know if that is true until we buy or if we knew anyone that ould od that or have done that.

Thanks for all your help and advice. I think the word timeshare, gets all the alarm bells ringing.

Thank you, I will let you know if they come back with any info form me.

Thanks
