I'm sure many of you with kids know about Club Penguin. Both of mine use the site and are quite happy with the way it all works etc.

However, we are now being pestered by the eldest, who wants to become a club penguin member. It says it gives loads of extras that are not otherwise available. It aint cheap (at £3.95 a month) if its pointless, on the otherhand, for all I know it may be great value for money!

Any HUKDers know of any further details?

http://play.clubpenguin.com/

(PS it would appear that its cheaper if you say you are from the US! I'm aware they could check the IP - but doubt they would else you could only use when "at home" and not out of the country! Comments on this welcome!) $5.95pm is nicer than £3.95!!!!

I had to get a years membership for a pestering 5 year old last week. I did pay for a couple of seperate months before that though and it worked out alot cheaper for a whole year.

It's good if they use and like it ,and works out to very little money a week.

There is more than can do and obtain when they are a member.

Plus I play it occasionally.

Thanks for that.

To be honest, he's mostly been using "roblox", but to be honest we both felt that he was getting a bit obsessed with it (plus some of the kids seem to swear a little on it.) He's used penguins in the past, but weve persuaded him Penguins is better! (He was quite chuffed to get a "promotion" to tour guide yesterday!)

So what sort of extras are there? Is it not just more of the same, or are there other advantages?

Will probably just do a month at first using the worldwide tip!!!

They can adopt more puffles, buy stuff to dress up and furniture, more rooms, get new areas first.

Not much, but to kids it makes all the difference, they want to be the cool one with all the gear lol.

I have never seen any bad language on it.

Dont know what a Puffle is - but did see them mentioned in the membership bumpf. Sounds a bit of a con when you consider what there is for free. We've made a deal with our littlun to join with the proviso he behaves himself. A little bit of blackmail..... so £3pm via worldwide is a small price to pay!

It was roblox.com and its more slang / misspelt stuff (which hes started to copy. Not so good!!!)
