Many really good deals lately are just getting cold votes straight away.

Are people just lurking about voting code for no reason?

I agree. It isnt fair that good deals are voted cold. Its probably 'cos they want it for themselves.

It's been happening a while.....I posted a cinema freebie and was -12 a minute after posting with no comments.

think their mouse tracking speed needs to be adjusted to lower ... too quick to click.

When I first came onto HU|KD I would post many good offers and bargains but same time some people would vote cold and sometimes harsh comments..thought to myself how very unappreciative these people have been...to a point where I haven't posted any deals for months now and probably won't be doing anymore.

I'm beginning to think that :o

Agree with a lot of the coments. It's a shame. Feels like hotukdeals is loosing it's point.

Keep posting the deals though and ignore the cold voters. Just havea good look about :-)

Often i find deals that are cold or just above 0* which i rate very highly. Just got to look about really.

I don't have a problem with the voting system in place but feel if any newbies come across a bargain.. post it to give something back to the HUKD community then get a lot of cold votes..doesn't really give the newbies the incentive to post more deals and possibly some comments could be interpreted hurtful if the newbie is of a sensitive nature...shame really.

I posted a deal this morning which is saving £10 on most prices. -37 at the moment!! I mean, why don't they post their cheaper price for everyone?!?!
#10
ok let's heat it up folks!
#11
You will find that some but not all folks can be swayed towards being kinda like freeloaders...they want everything for practically nothing or pay as little as much as possible.

-25 now ;)

My view is that its because people are posting so much rubbish these days, the potentially good stuff is now harder to spot

eg putting the HMV sale on isnt enough for some people they feel they have to list almost every single item from it and take over the site.

The same goes for supermarket deals, almost every bogoff is now listed on this site so its becoming more and more difficult to find real HOTdeals rather than the usual repeats such as Muller yogurt as that is always on offer somwhere if not everywhere.

Ive never had a deal ive listed voted into the negative cold side as i truly wait till i see HOT deals rather than just listing average stuff all day

Cheers everyone for the heat. Wasn't looking for it - it's just wierd that such good deals get voted cold all the time.
#18
I know. Its crazy.

In the plus now, ! :)

Perhaps you should only be able to vote if you are prepared to add a reason-hot or cold. Can non members vote as well?

gone back cold now :x

I have thought for quite a while that the voting was misused. I have seen many good deals that go cold with no reason. Some people deemed popular get very high votes regardless. I was given the chance to test this theory when somebody posted the same deal as me (after I had posted). I did not spam the deal but watched the votes and there was a vast difference for the same thing.
Either the vote has to be relevant or should be abolished. I do not intend to slate the second poster as I do not have any issues with the other person - just that the voting system is a sham.

I both agree and disagree. I disagree with the HMV sale part, i think individual hot deals are better, i come to this site so i don't have to search through looking for the bargains on the main sites.

I agree with the supermarket deals though, these have only recently started flooding in, and some are getting out of hand

How do they work, how many can you give etc.? Is there a section with all this info in? Don't like to ask sometimes incase the long-timers have a go!!

the deal isn't that hot.

Any game is cheaper using that voucher now if you'd posted the voucher then you'd have a point but I could just list any game over 30 bucks tell people to add the voucher, poss quidco and rewards points and that'd make loads of deals "hot".

Having said that I wouldn't worry too much as at the very least you'll have enabled a few more people to be aware of the voucher and be able to bag themselves a copy of fifa slightly cheaper so just ignore the cold votes.

At least if comments are left people can tell if they people voting cold have a genuine reason or not

Anyway this topic has been done to death.

You should listen to BG - he's an expert on posting hot deals......

Here's the only deal he's posted in the last 6 months.....and it reached -36 degrees

The site has always been like this.

By people heating up this deal simply because they are being generous, they are actually a part of the problem(Voting without thinking).

I'm not bothered about getting heat in my own deals! This is not my point.

Every deal, even excellent ones seem to be getting voted cold... for no apparent reason.

Maybe there needs to be a way of listing different deals with using a certain voucher, or putting individual deals under the main sale thread.

The "heat" is nothing more than a gimmick.

The problem isn't with vouchers, or main sale threads, it just HUKD and how it works.
You could post the exact same deal tomorrow, and it may reach +1000 degrees, would the deal be any better?
#39
people are just plain mean :(

I find it interesting that when you have a look for decent vouchers posted from those who criticise other posters, there aren't any - says it all ....
