Hi roryk83 :)

Try supplementing with L-lysine, you can buy it from places like Holland and Barrett .

My sister suffers badly from coldsores and she has rarely had them since taking this supplement.

Sometimes she doesnt it even take it regularly - but if she feels that tingle and redness - then she takes it and it does seem to stop them - its worth a try for prevention at least!

^^ i know that doesnt really help you now - but worth trying in the future.

If you have it about the house you should use some bonjella on it, to take the sting away

My doc suggested using vaseline ( you can get the little pots of it now rather than carrying around a big jar! He said the only difference to using that and the treatments costing £5+ is an additive that doesnt always work anyway:P keep it moist, and sealed with vaseline and it should go just as fast. When i feel one coming on, it also sometimes stops it coming out at all using vaseline :)

Next time you're in the pound shop pick up theirs, it contains exactly the same ingredients as Zovirax 5% Aciclovir....made by Galpharm.

I use this Boots Dual Action Cold Sore Lotion 10ml as its lotion rather then a cream and dries it up really quickly and its on offer at BOOTS at the mo for £1.96 instead of £2.45 Last ages and I just use cotton ear buds to dab on the lotion which handly fit in the box it comes in.
Hope it clears up soon they are horrid things and always feels like they are worse then they look too xx

fenistil - it's even better than aciclovir (IMO)
