.com expiry time before being available to buy?

.

Found a domain name I'd like to buy which expired on 23 November. (Been monitoring since October!)

Anyway, from what I've seen, its at least 60 days, but also seen 67 and 77 days quoted. Its now on day 74!

Anyone know the definitive timeframe?

Seems a bit mickey mouse if its "about" XX number of days!

(PS No I'm not going to tell you the domain name!)

Once it expires, the original owner gets loads of emails for them to register it. I had a domain name registered and they were still emailing me saying "renew now before ___ to keep your domain" up to 2 months later. The date in the email kept changing but at some point it went back on the market. I bought it again when they had a sale on lol

Maybe better to ask in this forum ... or look for relevant postings

Cheers, I'll take a look. Seems nuts there isn't a definitive timespan from expiration.

How much for the domain name, don't think they're expensive, how come you're watching for so long?

Do you have idea how domain registration works?

No they are not expensive. I searched for a suitable domain... I found one which was due to expire a month after my search. You cant buy if it belongs to someone else (unless they agree and usually for a huge price) So you have to wait until its available to be repurchased. Hence the question as its unclear the length of time it actually is.

Do you know what company it is registered with?
I think it may depend on that.

Oh no!

I deleted the comment i had posted earlier, was going to edit. They should have a confirm delete pop up!

Not typing all that again! three hungry people looking at me! X)

EDIT: Back. Thanks for the info guv, think i hadn't woken up properly when i originally posted itt tbh :) i have made only a couple of websites, domain reg, hosting was already in place, never had to look at waiting for expiry. Hubby registered a domain (for us) very recently that was available and looking to buy another one, thats available too.

i've taken guv.com now, you can have it £99.99
