comet extra care

limeboyjoelimeboyjoe

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows what will happen to the extra care policies now comet has gone down?

Will they be void or are they dealt with by another part of the company?

I have a few items covered by the policies and now I'm starting to get bothered

Most of these are underwritten by Domestic and General, I think....so should be valid.

    Hi
You are snookered like the rest unless a new company takes over and honours the warranty.
It would be better off to sell items off with warranty!

You are wrong pimmzy...... OP you are safe a company called extra care looks after the warranties And if comet cease trading a trust fund will be set up to honour extended warranties

Many people are still waiting for some care, never mind the 'extra' care that peeps paid extra for. oO

oh god help any of you that need to contact that lot for repairs...i bought 5 year extra care for my washing machine bought from Comet last year (2011) and needed to report a repair today. Just under an hour on the phone being passed from pillar to post, left on the line listening to the other phone ringing until someone can be arsed to actually answer it..only to be put on hold AGAIN to someone else! FINALLY speak to someone who's first wors aren't " hold on til i put u through to ......" but told part is ordered and someone will be out Friday between 8am - 6pm.
I suppose the ONLY good news is that the cover paid for is still valid....but its such a headache trying to actually get someone...and ive not even saw the cost of the calls yet!
    Good luck to anyone else

If you look at the documents, it will say there is an underwriters, and some companies have to have a certain amount of money aside for them to be able to sell warranties. However, there is nothing saying that they have to service them instantly, for example, if there is no staff!! But something will be put in place.

I have an extended warranty for my washing machine from Comet that has just stopped working! I phoned ExtraCare and was given another number to ring, each number i rang gave me another until on the sixth number i got through to Icelands who said they are covering the repairs! i was told that someone would be in contact with me in the next 48 hours to hopefully make an appointment! Well by 10am tomorrow morning the 48 hours will be up and not heard a word yet. The number is 0844 854 0943. To be honest i can understand it must be hectic! but i dont hold much hope of getting anywhere! i was on hold for over an hour before i got through to someone and they didnt sound very confident in what they told me! I am also worried about the cost of my next phone bill, these numbers are all 0844 or 0845, you are on hold for ages!

I reported my washer dry on 28/02 someone came out 05/03 told they would have to order the part. My insurance states if it isn't repaired in 28 days I can have a new machine. 28 days were up yesterday but now they are saying the parts have to be in within 28 days & they confidently came in Wed afternoon even though no one rang me to let me know. They told ,e theory will be pout 05/04 but then they rang & left a message to say engineer fully booked so now its 08/04. They say as long as the parts are in I have to wait until they cash fit me in. My friend went with domestic & general and within her time of 21 days she got a new machine without any problems. I am seeking legal advice because it clearly states I'm entitled to a new machine I have 3 kids & they don't give a toss they've had their money for the ext warranty this is the 8th repair in less than 3 years. Does anyone know what I can do?

it has taken me hours, and well over a week, to find a phone number that works to get in touch with the comet extra care service plan group, but here it is 0844 871 8043 - hopefully this will save some other unfortunates unlucky enough to have this plan a little time! lynda
