Pre ordered PGR4 for £15 at local Argos, and then reserved to collect in store at Comet £44.99.
Comets policy - we will match any local price and give 10% the diffence back -
So the game should have cost me £12.

Went instore and they had to verify Argos's price - they then colme back to me and said that they could not honour there policy and they were going to withdraw PGR from sale as they had spoken to head office.

Its still £44.99 instore (checked back later), and its still on there website.

why have a policy if you cannot keep to it ?

Tell them that you'll sue. :)

Write a letter to their head office reminding them of their advertised terms and conditions - and forward a copy to trading standards.

Thought it was only Currys and PC World that had that policy.

Comet price promise from their web site, try buying it then go back and claim the difference they have then committed themselves asking to price match before buying gives them a way out!

if they withdraw from sale you cannot do anything, you haven't paid anyway, forget it and move on.

Is it really worth it for £3?

Contact the Advertising Standards Authority if you want to make something of it, they are quite quick to respond to any complaints.

I had a complaint against PCWorld upheld in my favour, all sorted within a short period.

Agreed, thats why I did not kick up too much of a fuss, Thought I would give it a go as I was going to Comet before going into town.

Does make a mockery of there policy though !

The policy has more to do if you have already bought it though...

What a waste of a post, you have not yet bought the item but you want them to honour their policy, yet you have not even entered an agreement!!

Move on, if you did not have 45 notes in your pocket then tough, go to Argos and buy it. If you had 45 notes in your pocket you would have bought it then mentioned the price match policy. Then they would have to refund you.

What you have done is just told them that they can get cleaned out of these games for 12 quid if they are not careful, hence they are fully within their rights to say thank you very much we are withdrawing them from sale and from this moment, no you can't purchase one within out store.

If they are still available online they bluming well buy one, then go and claim your 3 quid profit back on top of the difference. Will probably cost you that in time and travel.

Comet have always price matched for me with everything I have bought. Spent over 3k with them last year and so far this year 1k.
Had a call back today and they have priced matched the PGR if I havent already picked it up from Argos.
