Haven't been on here too long - so not sure of etiquette!!!!!

Posted some info re an ebay item on a thread (http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/380136/wanted-a-cheap-vodafone-mobile) which was buy it now and has now been removed.

Don't really understand as the person was looking for a mobile for around £20 and so was the one on ebay

I know lots of people arent ebay lovers - but I was only being helpful and still dont understand why it is not allowed, when we are all after hot deals.

Apologies if this is in the wrong section

There's a simple rule - no links to eBay deals allowed, anywhere! :)

I think it probably bolis down to possible self promotion, same as not allowing any amazon market place sellers etc :)

But why?

And it wasnt a direct link - it was the title and item no.

Because it's eBay. It's an unknown seller, not a trusted company. It could have been you selling it for all the moderators know.

There really isn't much point debating though - they won't allow eBay links or information pointing to eBay items, simple as that. :w00t:

The blanket rule makes the forum easier to moderate.
Do you really mean big brother state?

Misc forum, not deals or FS/FT. Also not in response to a deal request, basically.

Fair enough, but the quotes in my post are stating that no links to Ebay are allowed "anywhere". There are links in the thread I copied, and, potentially, the person posting those links could be selling the item as well! In all probability they're not, but the possibility is there.

Well, fair point. I read the quotes as being no ebay links in response to deals, but you're right, that's not what they say!

I'm chilled :) but like to know the answers to things as opposed to just being told 'no' - I grew up a long time ago and even my kids expect an answer when they are told something :)

Shame everything has to be 'monitored' and we adults cant just make decisions for ourselves :) as lets face it there are a lot of bargains on ebay (ooh brave of me to say it, hee hee) - OK there might be more risk there - but isnt threre a lot of risk on the net anyway with companies going bust etc.

Didn't want to ruffle feathers - just a simple explanation as opposed to just ' you can't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Now where did I put those happy pills. . . . . . )
