Commonwealth games-NOBODY is watching are they?

Every event is at less than 5 percent capacity-its just swathes of empty seats everywhere-wouldnt it make sense to just let people in for free to make the atmosphere a bit better?

Bus in some schoolkids for a day out? Its totally pathetic.Apart from the boxing,I have no interest personally in any of it.

Time to get rid of this stupid competition?Glasgow have it next and tbh,I havent met one person who could care less.

maybe that's all the stadium can hold before shoddy building work causes it to fall down?

Mr and Mrs Jaconelli care!

true-tbh,given what the council are spending on this, they should give the jaconellis a decent price and be done with it-they offered 30k which is ridiculous-they would accept 90k which would at least buy them another house so seems only fair.

NOBODY I know is watching it on TV either

really is time this was scrapped as its just another burden on the host country's tax payers!

Manchester in 2002 was great.........this is just dull. Revealed today that the running track and infield was damaged during the opening ceremony. lol

I've heard they're scared of the terrorists so are staying well away.
#7
they knocked down poor peoples homes and all to make room for stadiums etc. a few of the rich can afford it but i guess ghe games isnt that big there either really....if it was cricket ppl would come as well

Terrorists won't be a problem in Glasgow!

Smeato thinks Chuck Norris is a wimp!!

We have it on now and again, but don't turn the channel to specially watch it.
I don't think anyone is going to Dehli because its so far away and expensive to get there.
I defo agree that people should be let in for free I haven't seen so many empty seets at an event like that

swimming is pretty full!

might let kids in free

but would you take your kids to a stadium under an extreme terrorist threat?

probably explains the empty ground

Anyone know when the gymnastics is on?I love that:D

It's weird. I keep checking Victor Chandler hoping to put a bet on certain events but none available. It's almost as though it is not happening. Also heard nothing & seen nothing regarding results so far :|

I'm going to watch the swimming today now that apparently the water has caused swimmers a stomach virus. See if there are any slicks in the pool. :{

was just reading about this-the guy in charge of the swimming pool says that "only 7-10 percent of swimmers have fallen ill, which is far less than we had planned for"

seems an awfully high percentage to me

What a masochist.....they aimed for more??? lol

If someone had got the squits swimming in front of me I'd be swimming a little bit faster to get in front.

Prepare for some very fast times, some very fast exits and some buttock clenching on the podium.

Barky I didn't even know it was starting till I saw a photo in the paper of the opening. Hasn't been much of a lead up to it. I remember as a kid I knew when the Commonwealth Games were on - even remember when they held up the road from me at Meadowbank. Used to be a big fuss about them in the days gone by though not as much as the Olympics obviously. Don't think any of my kids would even know about if I asked them.

Hopefully we get our planning a bit better when the Olympics start - and ensure our 7 to 10% are Aussies, Americans and Chinese!
