I called Ebuyer on the number from "saynoto0870" and the message comes up to call the 0871 number, this is happening with a couple of others iI have tried.

Shame, I was getting used to using that site, was saving me loads

I tried to call tax credits a few weeks back and they told me I had to call back on the proper number, they also said that it had been logged that I had been using the wrong number previously.

Actually Ebuyer was one of the good ones to have as a normal number, it usually took about 15 min to get through to someone

GGGrrrrr

You could try telling them you are calling from abroad and can't get the non-geographic number to work... They might accept that as a reasonable excuse. They might not.

Colour me stunned. What does it matter to them what number you called on???? If you got through, that's their problem surely. Did they make you redial before they would speak to you?

You can often get around this by googling the company name & then putting in the area dialing code of the city / town they are based in. I have often found landline numbers that way that are not on saynoto0870 :)

+1 you would think that common sense would prevail

When you ring a company because you have a problem and your sat on hold gewtting charged for the privilege its an absolute farce ! 0871 number should be made illegal for helplines etc

I suspect many won't, I needed to change a Scotrail booking when I was in the US - they claimed they couldn't make the change over e-mail and that I'd need to phone them. I explained I couldn't as I was abroad so they told me to add a +44 to sort the problem, when I eventually convinced them that wasn't possible they just kept saying that was the only way to do it! They wouldn't let a family member or friend phone on my behalf in the UK and as it was a sleeper train I'd be taking just after landing I really needed to have the booking ready at least a day in advance.

This took nine days to establish with the only solution being to get a family member to impersonate me, I wasn't impresed at all.
