Is this your machine here?

If so, then it looks like any of this stuff will work. Don't forget google checkout if you decide to go for any of it! (PC2100. 2 slots. Maximum of 1gb in each. Total 2gb)

Any old RAM will not work in Compaq systems, are you sure this is compatible.

I've just search the crucial site. They don't seem to have any compatible memory for the 700 series.

Oh I'm not sure. I know that any stuff will work with the newer compaq machines but I have no experience with the older models. Sorry!

If you can't find the model the system scanner will tell you what's compatible.

Is this it? It says it only takes SD RAM

Each memory slot can hold SDRAM, PC133 with a maximum of 256MB per slot.*

Edit: sorry - just realised you said it was a laptop.

IIRC we used Kingston RAM for Compaq Presario upgrades.

From what I can see the CM2130 is a 700 series. what is the Serial# that will tell us exactly what your system is and what specs.

thanks for your help at present, I don't have the laptop with me I left it with my tech friend, because it would not turn on at all, but when he tried additional ram it booted up fine. hope it wasn't just a one off with the additional ram, will soon find out

I'm having problems getting compatible 512mb sticks of ram for a 2500 series (for someone else)...

Crucial may be next on the list, but I'm dubious as to whether it will accept them as I've tried 2 different sorts of 512mb sticks now...

ok, so I got the ram plugged it in and the laptop still doesn't want to work :(, realy don't know what to do now.

The laptop was working fine then apparantly just died for no reason, nothing new was added to it. Now when i try to turn it on the power light comes on there are a couple of clicks from the hard drive and thats about it. the screen appears to be turned of also.

any help on what to do, thinking of returning the ram i bought or if i can't i will have to sell it on ebay.

Maybe the battery is faulty see if it works when using the battery and see if it works when it is on charge.

Have you got any cards in the slots ? remove any cards and any peripherals that you may have connected. Printers. pendrives even an external keyboard.

k i removed the hard drive n it does wot i said before about the cpl of clicks... so i guess it might be the hdd that is broken... oh the expense for such a piece of crap laptop lol

hey, dragged this one out of the back of the HUKD thread cupboard.

I have this sat under my sofa bed, i have 2 40gb hdd's, 1 128MB PC133 SDRAM, the screen is in working order so can be used in another laptop i guess also the laptop has original xp installed. oh and the battery will have to look what sort that is

however when attempting to fix the laptop i broke a clip where the keyboard is installed.

do you think i'd get a few quid back if i sold all this seperately and what should i ask for them?

buying a 2.5" hdd adaptor so i can format the hdd's through my desktop. so will be tested and hopefully working
