Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer.

This error can be caused by unplugging a removable storage device such as an external USB drive or CD-ROM drive that is failing. Make sure any removable storage is properly connected and then restart your computer.
If you continue to receive this error message, contact the hardware manufacturer.

Anyone know what causes the above message.
Have tried Google but can't get an answer.
PC comes up with above message and won't go any further.
This happened late last night and I never got a chance to play with it.
There was no CD / DVD in the drive and no usb drives connected.
Might try booting into safe mode when I get there later and see if it boots.

Barmaid did admit to having her Blackberry connected but she says she was only charging it.
I don't think she would have known what else to do with it to be honest.
This PC has all the pub's music on it so it is fairly quiet down there at the moment.

Sounds like a faulty usb peripheral or a usb peripheral without the correct drivers installed/drivers have become corrupt.

I had a similar message with a USB TV tuner as it was on its way out.

Also make sure all internal cables are connected correctly and haven't worked themselves loose.

Yes, thanks.
My problem is it is not my PC so I will have to listen to what people suggest on here and then try them out later when I'm at the pub.

First things to find out would be...

Does this only happen when the Blackberry is connected

Do any errors show up in device manager

It's happening all the time at the moment ( Or should I say last night ).
Nothing other than mouse, keyboard and monitor are connected. Oh, and power supply. :giggle:

I will need to see if it will boot up in safe mode later to check out device manager.
Didn't have time to try that last night as it was right on closing time.
