I have just had a new laptop, so my old desktop is sitting upstairs unloved (apart from when the kids are on it).
Today i wanted to transfer some music off my desktop, to my laptop, but when i put my memory card in, nothing happend, so i tried using a usb device, and still nothing happend.
I am on XP, so it should of come on automaticly.
Can anyone help?

Sorry i didn't make myself clearer. Its the desktop that nothing happens.
I have tried using 2 MP3 players and 2 different sorts of memory cards (sd and m2).

I have tried that and i get this error message -

D:\ is not accsesible.
The requwst could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

Do and usb ports work on your desktop and has the card reader ever worked ?

Switch the Desktop of and remove any usb devices that are attatched.

Re-boot and try the memory card again. Try a usb device in another slot.

No usb ports are working at all and yes the card reader has always worked.
The only thing i can think of, is that my 3yr has done something to the comp.

It sounds as if it may be the memory card .............. ?
If it was me I think I would completely start over. Turn everything off then Reformat the memory card to completely wipe everything off. Drag & drop files back to the card & try again on laptop.
Or even try restoring the comp' back a day or two ... ?

suggest you use the system restore feature and choose a date before your children did something... you will not lose any data and the process may be reversed.

Go to Programs/Accessories/System Tools and you will find it there. The wizard will guide you through the process.

Sorry but if you let a 3yr old near a pc the chances of what has happened rise to the s7 figure mark,
look in device manager
(right click on my computer, choose properties then hardware tab, device manager button)
look for to usb and report back
