computer needs to be restarted to complete update message help please

After installing the update for adobe I keep getting a box pop up saying the computer needs to reboot to complete installation.
After doing it twice it still says it so obviously something is wrong. Ive updated latest virus scan with Zone alarm and run a full scan with nothing showing up. Have also run system mechanic and although it found and fixed a couple of problems it is still popping up this message. If i say no it pops the box again and then a second cancel makes it go away with nothing else apparently happening
Any help appreciated
Thanks

Where did the update appear from? Was it an email that was sent to you.
Dont want to panic you but I hear there is a virus going about that is in an adobe attachment.
#3
dont think it was an email - in fact im pretty sure it wasnt. Im sure it came up on a work site when trying to open some documents
Any idea where and what the virus is?

Right. I have just been checking some information from someone who had the problem.
It was in an email advising to download flash. Once clicked to the link it downloaded a trojan called. tinyprox.exe. If your update didn`t come from an email link then it shouldn`t be that.
Best to scan to be on the safe side though.

reinstall it from scratch after uninstalling

If all else fails. Try a system restore to go back to point before your update. So easy to do and always works for me. Good luck.

yet another endless thread asking for advice then the OP vanishes lol

The OP hasnt vanished. She installed Spybot last night and then ran it- several times! and also system mech again zone alarm - then she went to bed completely knackered! This morning she tried restoring to an earlier point without success and then left it trying to get to another earlier point when she went to work! She has now not ling been in - cooked herself some tea - looked at the amount of work she has to do tonight and then .......... managed to look at the thread! And its still not fixed the problem. BUT she does appreciate all the help that has been suggested so far AND has tried it all without success. so ner ner ne ner ner!!!

If it is a spyware problem, then the best program is Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, and even better, it's FREE!

I spent ages trying to get paid for virus checkers to remove some stuff, i had, and none would do it, this one came along and did it straight away

The free version isn't that type of program that runs in the background, it's not a monitorer, if you see what i mean. You just open the free one, press scan, it fixes anything it finds, and you then close it.

Malware Bytes
AVG
spyware doctor

- Do a scan, then when thevirus is found - file the file location yourself and delete it manually

why jump to the conclusion it is a virus and spend all this time trying to resolve it when a system restore should fix the update problem?

I had a similar problem with adobe and just uninstalled and reinstalled it. Problem fixed.

no, someone said they got something similar from an email, not the op.

The OP said "dont think it was an email - in fact im pretty sure it wasnt."
