THANKYOU soooooooo much for all your advice, so this is free!!!!!!!
surely you only get what you pay for

You have to pay for Norton and its pants compared to the free stuff, not to mention the fact that it chokes your system and is nigh on impossible to install (which you will find out soon enough).

Yep, and in the case or Norton, you pay for a load of grief. Only the other day I removed an install of Norton from a machine much to the guys annoyance as he had only just splashed out £50 for it.

I did laugh a little

I use pctools spydoctor with anti virus.

http://www.pctools.com/spyware-doctor-antivirus/

just under 30 pounds to purchse

I've used this on lots of computers which were practically unusable, (orginally I tried other popular antiviruses).

I would recommend this if you have teenage children accessing your machine hehe

The point is that there is absolutely no need to purchase anything as there are free alternatives that work just as well if not better.

To completely remove Norton you may have to use a removal tool depending what version you have http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039 then simply install whatever you have downloaded, AVG etc. Either now or wait until Norton runs out.
