Concert Tickets - is there an easier way? Scalpers are killing my year.

Is there a trick or easier way to get concert tickets that don't suck?
even when I try to but the day of sale direct with ticketmaster the tickets I end up with never seem any good
ebay seems to be the only option for a lot of tickets I want this year and the ticket prices are astronomical.
any advice?

You just have to keep trying, Ticketmaster are usually good.
The best tickets are normally released on the 1st day of sale OR in the final couple of weeks leading upto the concert.
I have found that If you dare wait until the final couple of weeks, this is when you can get the premium tickets.

Register on bands you like websites, often you get presale links then, and can bag tix before they go on general sale.

That it a good idea in alot of cases, but remember some of the bigger bands will charge you anything upto £50 to join up to the fanclub for a year.

Also register that you like a band on ticketmaster, I get emails from ticketmaster about The View, Razorlight etc, because I went onto my profile on ticketmaster and enterred the bands I'm interested in. I find out about tickets through a mixture of ticketmaster (like a day or two before the tickets get released) or through the fans website of that particular band. good luck!

I wish they would go back to only selling the tickets at the venue of the gig.

This way if you want one and are willing to queue up you are guaranteed the best tickets.

All gone a bit sour since they stopped doing that.

how about starting to go watch bands that dont sell out enormodomes? theres plenty of good stuff playing small local venues near you.

I'm with 02 and they've now taken over Carling [events]. 02 Give priority tickets to it's customers thats how i've managed to get tickets inc. Standing tickets for The Cure @ 02 Arena. Also Lee Evans, AC/DC & Kings of Leon have been on offer.

I agree, we tried to get tickets to see Morrissey in Liverpool, but they sold out in about 3 minutes

10 minutes later they were on ebay for 3x the price

sign up to your local venue and you will get priority booking the day before they go on sale to the ppublice always works for us.

I seem to just be lucky at getting th tickets i need, never had a problem. Still annoys me at seeing them on ebeay for 2/3 times the price.

I'm not sure changing my music tastes is the best way to secure concert tickets.

Ours dont do anything like that, and when you call it goes through to ticket master and you have to book through them

We tried to call (and tried online) from when the morrissey tickets went on sale, and got through at about 4 minutes later - already sold out!

Beaties stores sell them ... call them

I tried for ages for ac/dc but no luck. The only ones I can get hold of are for when we are on holiday!

I didnt have this problem last time I went to see ac/dc...I dont know whether they are getting even more popular or whether people think that angus cant continue running around forever so they better go see em now!!

Perhaps I luckily avoid those bands!

I have and will continue to, but tickets seem few and far between (understandably when people can double their money and sell their morals on ebay)

we have a priority member bit on the venues website that you can join and the venue give u a code via e-mail so u can ring a day before you cant buy the tickets without the code, have a look at the venue you would normally go to on there website.
