yes trading via pm is against the rules, but when we have a member who may have been scammed by a trusted member then locking down his threads asking for help is also allowing a reputable seller to fly under the radar, members still deserve a little help and if not a little compassion

got to agree, especially as that debacle of an xbox thread was allowed to remain open with mod opinion thrown in for good measure.

the seller is someone with high feedback and hasnt done any on thread dealing for 6months, maybe this buyer isnt his only victim, yes the buyer was in the wrong for dealing like this but we shouldnt be protecting sellers who scam

The admin team still have access to the information, they can see the PM and who sent it, and if it a respectable member then other members may have contact details.

Unless you're saying it's OK to scam people, as long as it is done by PM?

Could be anyone.

Yep it should be outed in threads so both can give their side etc, future warning for others.

There have been a couple similar recently, one was in fb they named him for doing the pm thing many times and he was finally banned.

So as it's a high fb member let him go unnoticed is this right?

i have no reason to suspect the person being scammed of lying, and he deserves as much help as can be given

it may even turn out to be he hasnt been scammed just hasnt received item, but it still doesnt deserve a locked door from mods

Good job sigma.
Good explanation in the threads the member started.

Cuts out the usual threads full of low quality sleuths with nothing better to do.

Inb4 the lock. (Since this seems to be the stance on the subject! - which is not only "harsh" as stated in the thread, but it actually shows the mod in a very bad light IMHO.

As far as it looked, the OP was seeking advice. It wasn't directed to a mod obviously, else they'd have used the "contact us" button.

And the mod didnt even give many modabees the oportunity to say "out of thread dealing".

Please report the relevant thread where the trade was agreed on thread in line with forum rules and also contact the seller directly via the details you exchanged - a phone call would be advisable if they are ignoring emails and you can report their address to the police if they continue to ignore your contact attempts. Once we receive the thread link we'll also contact the seller and investigate further.

NB If this is a MISC thread asking for help because you agreed a deal off thread and ignored forums rules and are unable to report in the usual manner then unfortunately its a private matter between you and the seller and you should contact them directly.

hardly fair, you may think it is ok to shut the door because someone dealt via pm, i dont and if your jibe is at me i couldnt care less, i have not named the seller, just dont think its fair to shut the door in peoples faces when they need advice
#12
who is said member?
#13
Should be left open for help, Situation Ethics would work perfectly here, "Follow rules or break according to love's needs". So in this situation the most loving thing is to help the member but once again....

was Sigma, can't say I'm surprised.

This.

Member awareness needed.

hot_martyn2008 is welcome to drop us an email and we can take a look at the situation.

We do encourage members to follow the rules for a reason, hence the previous lock, but we'll obviously do what we can to help. Don't want this turning into a witch hunt though.
I'll send him a PM shortly and find out what's happened and if we can do anything.

haha lmao at the guy that got scammed, some people.

sigma said to contact them(mods) and the police.
Door seems wide open to me.

If members want to foolishly part with their money, HUKD staff shouldn't let the forums turn into a witch hunt. I don't agree in the one or two that they participate in, as it gives mixed messages.

Have to agree with the Saint here.

Rules are there to help the members, unfortunately not a lot they can do without the evidence and the information to back the members.

Lets hope its just a mistake.

thank you juliet, from sigmas post it was clear unless the thread could be linked to then nothing would be done, as i said maybe he hasnt been scammed, maybe the item is late arriving or whatever, but we shouldnt be knocking people asking for help, no matter what the reason for them needing it, same as any other help really

again I can't disagree.

here's a link to a dispute that was thrashed out in full public glare with no lock and advice from sigma

If anything that thread is one that I'd have thought would've been better suited to be dealt via pm between the 2 members and mods if necessary.

No, that's a fair comment. Members should look after themselves really but it's worth knowing the full story and who else is involved. We'll see what we can do.
