Congestion Charge - Print your own money

So I had some business in London Town today and checked my route to ensure that my client was not in the C-Zone - he wasn't.

I TomTommed myself there and there was no mention of 'Toll Charges' - as it calls it.

However, I still had 3 miles of journey (til next turn off) to go but C-Zone starts in 2.5. Hmmm?

I'm sure I didn't go in to the Zone and called the number to ask them to check if I'd been in there. Surprise, surprise - they're not connected to the Cameras so couldn't tell me.

Do I pay £8 - yes, I do. Unless I take the gamble and wait for my fine of £120.

However, if I want to contest the £8 - it will cost me the £10 administration charge for refund requests.......

Cheers - nice visit in to Town.

You'd know if you went in the zone, the massive c on the floor and all the signs saying you're about to enter the zone would give it away especially if you were making sure you weren't in the zone.

Nope. There was a 'normal' sign warning of the zone again and a camera. Nothing that leapt out giving a final warning. Nothing on the floor.

Could I have paid through Quidco?

Warning you were close to entering or warning you had entered?

They put the warning signs up miles outside the actual zone, and you can go pretty centralish and still miss the zone. Worth working out if you actually went in or not before paying to save a few quid.

If you paid £8, then i'm sorry, but your an idiot.

And for reference, the congestion charge fine is £60, not £120

"If you have not paid the Congestion Charge by midnight on the following charging day we may issue a PCN for £120 to the registered keeper of the vehicle."

If the PCN is paid within 14 days it is reduced to £60, if not paid within 28 days it goes up to £180

You had until tomorrow, you could of checked your route on some online map, sure I've seen some with the zone highlighted so you know if you've gone in or not.

And I'm pretty sure they were just warning signs that it was upcoming, seriously if you are unsure whether you went in the zone or not you probably didn't because the lines on the side of the road turn red instead of yellow, there are massive red c's in the middle of the road and road side signs telling you the times the zones on and that you're entering the zone.

Dont think you would have hit the congestion charge zone at all heading that route.

Its a nightmare and the signs start very early on but Peckham Road is a long way from the boundary.
Sure you'll be fine. :)
