thats just the way it goes hun, i think they did it because my partner and i both work, but earn very little .
they tend to house people on income support quicker, ( no offence)

here they give you an A band listing and you are housed the first week!! my daughter got a 3bed new-build first week after applying and she was living with us...how it varies:?

I am soo happy for you though! persistance pays off:thumbsup:

well slightly, as i didnt think this was allowed, i thought the max time to be in a hostel was 9 months, and thought even that had now been shortened:?

if i had been in a hostel for 4 years, you can bet your bottom dollar i wouldnt be accepting a flat, do you not have mp's in your neck of the woods

a bit confused here, you say you have a partner and he works, yet you where in a hostel

all depends where you live, absolutely no council accommodation available where i live (unless you already are with the council, then you can transfer, or if you have a baby), i rent private, so that's scuppered my chances of EVER getting a house. Still 4 years is a long time. Very happy for you tho'
a woman who lives in my town was told to go and private rent as they wouldnt give her council accomadation as they didnt have any,she rented a huge 4 bed detached place in the high end of the town,it even had a swimming pool, she didnt work was on full benefits and they soon found her a council house!

i have heard these horror stories and seen on TV the accomodation people are in...its disgusting and unfair that your basic needs are postcode lottery.

they have a rent allowance here and you have to top up if you get a high-rent place. There are little pockets where council property is scarce and people wont move two miles up the road so they pay extra top-up.
I am still horrified they can force you to live your life in a hostel...is it just one room?

yeah we don't get any help, and its just as much to rent a hostel than it is to rent a flat, from the council crazy isn't it.

yeh it is, luckily the house i rent is more than i could ever dream of getting from the council, only bummer is the rent is 3 times as much.

which makes it impossible to work...as the wages will never be high enough!

when i wanted to work when kids went to school i found at the time-due to having a mortgage-i would be £30 a week worse off! they would help with rent but not mortgage whereas income support would pay mortgage in full...it was so stupid, and frustrating.

they don't pay full rent for private tenants, but yeh it makes going to work hard, i know that's life but still...............

yeah there were many times i said to my partner im fed up, i know if we whent on job seekers we would be housed tomorrow, because with us they also had to take in consideration what we could afford, as with job seekers it doesn't matter, because its being paid for them

aww well done..its a shame that people have to wait so long..my friend and her 2 kids live in a one bedromm flat and they have been waiting for almost 3 years to be housed......will be nice for your little one to have a room of her own..

I was in the same boat, but there were 2 adults & 1 child sleepign in same room for about 3.5 years....we ended up private renting....:)
