The birth of a giant panda cub has been caught on camera at Oji Zoo in Kobe, Japan.

The baby is the first to be successfully bred in Japan through artificial semination in two decades.

The newborn is 25 centimetres long and weighs 100 grammes. Its sex is not yet known.

A bit of panda porn has helped too, they say.

“It works,” enthuses Zhang Zhihe, a leading Chinese expert, about showing uninitiated males DVDs of fellow pandas mating."

Gosh - cute? I thought it was a bit like something out of alien!!
Anyway, it's good that the breeding programme is doing well.
Pandas, I believe are very poor at sex and, living solitary lives like they do, take a long time to figure out what to do and show very little interest when they do know. Just saying.
