You'll either need a wireless adapter, wireless ethernet bridge or a network switch / hub. Not sure about setting up a pass through connection via your PC, It could be done.

Also you may need a twisted rj45 cable if connecting directly to your PC. hence why your having problems.

Where is you modem / router in relation to the xbox? same room?

turn power off on modem and router leave for about 1 min restart modem when modem flashing restart router,if still does,nt work go to network connections in settings right click on your connection and click repair this will renew your ip

If all this dont work FIND THE NEAREST WALL AND BANG YOUR HEAD ON IT UNTILL THE PUB COMES TO MIND

The 360 wireless adaptors are expensive but they work great.

You can buy pretty long Ethernet cables, Amazon resellers have 30m ones for about a tenner.

When you say modem its a router too right? If not you need a router connected to your modem. 360 plugged into router.
