what are your outputs and inputs?

I'm thinking maybe component cable, but unless I know the models can't really help...

if you have DVI on the monitor and HDMI on the dvd player then you can simply buy the correct adaptor cable, or some dvd players even have vga out.

I'm assuming your dvd player has a scart and composite output and nothing else? And your monitor just vga? If so http://www.sourcingmap.com/pin-vga-svideo-rca-composite-cable-adapter-converter-for-p-29614.html?currency=GBP would be your best bet, as you can carry the sound to external speakers that way too.

ouuff now ur asking hehe - the dvd player is an LG dvd recorder and the LCD monitor I cant see a brand but it came with my E machines computer.... Im really wondering if it can be done so as u say maybe a component cable, which maybe I could get from Maplin or something? I just dont see anywhere fittings could go in to the monitor so I guess it would adjoin to the monitor connection or something??

Yes that looks to be it actually thank you !! - can I buy this from Maplin or something does anyone know? As I could go tonight and buy it...

My hubby (who's the techie in my house) says that worst case on your monitor is it only has VGA output. Sounds like you have a decent DVD player, so a VGA to whichever input you use on the DVD player adaptor. Apparently Dabs.com is a good place to get them. Maplins will cost you a fair bit more.

As for where it would go into the monitor, same place your computer cable goes in if nowhere else. That's my guess as hubby just gone out

I'm sure you can buy it from Maplin, depends how desperate you are though as it could be anything up to 10 times the price

Maplin not got any just checked, so ill prob order from that site are they quite fast for delivery etc?
Thanks zanna for asking your hubby etc - hopefully that cable should work but it certainly looks like it should go the trick

Dabs.com nearly always come next day. Don't know about the site that was linked to
#12
Actually that site is American and is $5 to send the item - anyone know of elsewhere that might sell a similar item but would deliver quicker?

Im on Dabs.com but cant find the cable :(

That cable wouldnt work anyway,The way a monitor works is completely different to the output of a Dvd player unless you have a dvd player with HDMI,

You would need a convertor to change the signal to work with the monitor and the cheapest are about £35 ,
