Contract or PAYG?

Would I be stupid to get Desire HD as payg because of the price? Everyone keeps mentioning for me to go on contract. I'm currently 21 and all my past phones I've had have always been payg, never been on a contract, so would it be worth it in this case?

Tesco have a fantastic 30 day rolling contract special online offer - 500 minutes, unlimited texts and 500 mb of internet.

Generally speaking contact phones work like this:

a £200 phone will be on a £30/month 12month contract which = £360 paid

£200 towards the phone and a very healthy profit of £160 towards the network for a tariff which costs them well under £50 to operate for that year.

However that profitability margin for networks does vary and some resellers offer good deals.

The trick is to find a nice phone you want where that profitability as at an absolute minimum you get the best value of both worlds.

So Given Desire HD is £350+ minimum. you're looking at £30/month over 18months or so.

but the cheaper that is the better.

Personally I don't understand why people use PAYG, i run 5 contracts for me and my family ensuring we pay very little for all our inclusive bundles/phones. works out far better value than payg.

Credit reasons must be high up there.
