Is it okay to wash Converse in the washing machine? Anyone done this with no adverse results - ie. shrinkage or complete fading of colour?

Thanks for any advice.

Cat's a completely different colour to the shoes and he has a colourfast dye on so we know he's okay. :3

Washed converse loads of times, partners faded, mine didn't. Had mixed results with vans too.

Did they shrink at all?

I would wash them in a pillowcase, just for some extra protection, I always do this with my kids trainers/converse x

Thats a great idea.... i washed my brand new trainers by soaking them in a bucket of water and wahing up powder.... as i wanted the dirt to come of with no problem i then stupidly procedded to pour over near boiling water (89.9 C if you must know). This removed the plastic coating on the leather and shapped the trainers with the toe area pointing up............ by the time i finished they looks like ali babas nike trainers.... needless to say i did not wear them again but they come in great use when i paint :). moral of the story..........dont be stupid!!!

P.s. i was 15 at the time so i am obviously excused!
