Convert Hard Drive to FAT32

I want to play videos from my hardrive through my DVD player.

The hard drive I have is http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/western-digital-1tb-external-hard-d/824713/#post10084248

I found out the DVD will only recognise if it is formatted as FAT32.
The hard drive is partitioned into 3 parts but each one is NTFS, when I right click on the last partiton then Format the only options it is giving me are NTFS and exFAT is that the same as FAT32.

On the site regarding my DVD it says:

1.Make sure it has an external power connection, it must be powered externally before connecting to the player
2.Drive must be formatted as FAT32 (see formatters below!)
3.FAT32 partition must be primary.

Windows can't format a drive larger than 32GB as FAT32

As my 3 partitions are currently approx 500gb and 2 at 250GB would it be best to partiton the last one into 32GB partitions

Thanks.

On the link you sent the screenshot says allocation unit size 4096, but when I opened the software and clicked the drive letter that I want to format it recognises it as 239GB but its set to 32768(allocation Unit size).

Whats the best to set it at it goes up to 65536 or is it best to have it set at the 4096 as in the initial screenshot.

Also as most of the files I have converted are FLV music files is it best to convert them to AVIs or VOBS or maybe something else

DVD is http://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-DVP5960-Multi-Region-Capable-Upscaling/dp/B000G2Y59E and software Im using to convert is Format Factory 2.60 which will convert to

MP4, AVI, RMVB, WMV, MKV, MPG, VOB, MOV, SWF

you have to use the 1st partition for your media e.g the 1st parttion must be fat 32
#4
But all my video files and all my backed up files from PC are on the 1st partition.

When I got the new external drive I partitioned it so that it went J: 500GB ntfs K: 250GB L:250GB

all my files are on the J: drive, so I can't format the L: drive as FAT32, when I opened the software in the link it looks like it will let me format any of the drives.

Or do you mean when I hook the external drive to my DVD player it will only look at the first partition the J NTFS one and not even see the L Fat 32 one

The J: Drive needs to be FAT32
#7
copy your files from j to the other 2 or try gparted to change logical/ext logical to primary(possible data loss) or just buy another hard drive

Thanks! didnt see the bit about FAT32 must be Primary. Think Ill just transfer to other 2 drives and partition the J as FAT32

Ive downloaded from the link you gave earlier. Im currently copying file from J which is the primary to L and M, then hopefully going to convert J using32K clusters as advised above then transfer the files I need back to J.
Seems slow says approx 1 hours 50 for 80GB at about 12MB/sec
