I hear sliced beef, if left out of the fridge for more than an hour, gives you AIDS

Class thread, love it.

OP, what planet are you from? Is this your first day living on your own or something, no mammy to cook and look after you?

Also make sure that packet of crisps is not past it's sell by date, I mean if the clock turns midnight after the sell by date they become lethal, but 1 minute before midnight and you are ok, just make sure you keep an eye on the clock. That is how the Aids virus started in the first place, people eating crisps after midnight after the sell by date! Especially warm beef ones.

Firstly the above is wrong and I know it coz a bloke in the pub told me it was monkeys in Africa eating out of date crisps and then having sex with the sheeps in New Zealand what we ate (the sheeps weren't out of date).

The rest of you stop taking the ****, everyone knows it's aids you get from eating out of date monkeys but syphilis from crisps.

(The above comments may not be true, consult NHS Direct if symptoms of idiocy persist)

OP I'd say less than 2 hours is fine.. obv depending on room temperature, where it's been kept etc. I send my sons school lunch with freeze packs and in an insulated lunch bag etc, then it would be ok for longer obviously.
Ignore half the comments, it wasn't that stupid a question in all fairness.. not if its something that worries you anyway. :)

yes it was a stupid question and I guarantee you your son will not die (or get the bads aids) if you don't put an ice pack in with his lunch.

this place is literally mental.

I ate some beef last night that had been left out for 2 hours and 1 minute. Needless to say I died a horrible death which means that this post is coming from beyond the grave.

I just ate some beef that had been in a field for a few years, then had a nail shot through its head, left hanging on hooks for a few days, carved up in an abattoir, before being vacuum packed and driven a couple of hundered miles to a supermarket.
Did I need to rinse it in dettol first, or will I be ok?

I just ate a kebab.......and I am still alive. Although I think I may now have aids but that is a small price to pay for such a lovely kebab.

Our lass aksed for some but I said it's cold so she said well go and warm it up then. So I did, 3 hours later she said I thought you were getting me some kebab? I said I am, but am waiting for it to warm up. She said warm up? It's been 3 hours! How you warming it up?

I said it's in the window, getting warm off the sun. She said what the ***** you on lad? You don't warm a kebab up with The Sun!!!!.....................................everyone knows the Daily Mirror works best!

As I've said elsewhere, some people here need to get off HUKDs and get an education. This has to be up there for stupid thread of the year. And yes OP it is indeed a very stupid question.

This thread is a fine example of why members should never ask for help/advice in Misc

I think the majority of responses in this thread are appalling. The OP asked a simple question which may be obvious to most people but nevertheless all they got in reply was ridicule and scorn.

Thread is a prime reason why the site needs a help/advice section, seperate from the Misc "crew" looking for their next victim.

And you need to get a sense of humour. Or some warm beef, but not 2 hours old out of a fridge or you may die, and the last thing we want is a grumpy person complaining that they are dying because they forgot to put the beef in the fridge and wished they had asked for advice on HUKD first.

It be ok, besides there wasn't always fridges, would smelt surely if off ? Loads things can be left out the fridge for hours on end and they fine.

When I was younger my mummy sometimes made me beef sandwiches to take to school for lunch. These were kept in my back pack until lunchtime. Does anyone know if they were okay to eat?
#40
Any need for some of the responses! Rude!

Nikki i agree, I think op has a valid ask. Notice it's the males (again), that slate op. Most of them don't have a clue. Pfft men!!! ;)
