I understand it's best to microwave them first - but how long for please? Sorry to ask something so simple but we are novices!

Look forward to hearing from someone :-)

really we always just cook them straight on the bbq
#2
If they are frozen then defo defrost them first but if not then just keep them away from the flames and cook them over the hot non flamey areas or they'll burn on the outside and be raw in the middle.

I've never microwaved them first.

I always do mine straight on the barbie, but my Dad boils them first to make sure they are cooked. I ended up doing the bbq bit for him recently, and they actually cooked up a treat (and no worries about food poisoning)! .................mmmm, sausages.........................

.........you hoping for some decent weather?
#4
i put them straight on bbq then cut them in half before putting them in the buns so i can see they cooked thro been havin bbqs for about 10yr and not killed anyone yet so should be ok lol
enjoy :)

Well, hoping for decent weather but doubt we will get it now! It's my son's birthday party and so we are going to put up the gazebo and just cook up a few sausages for the adults.
[mod]#6
Straight on the BBQ when the heat has died down a bit and they are ready when they look ready basically.

As worto03 says though, I would defrost if they are frozen

Who have you been talking to? :? :p

It does sound a bit weird, but they cooked up nicely on the bbq afterwards, honest.

Even the old sausage websites seem to agree! Sausagelinks reckons you should 'poach' them for 30 minutes, then bbq for 5-10 mins

Nope, that's new one for me. I am starting to doubt my dubious cooking skills now which weren't that good to start with

Scout's honour - please look at the official, bona fide, top banana, no 1 sausage website in the world - SAUSAGELINKS - if you don't believe me....................

The poaching method really comes into its own during the barbecue season. Sausages do not cook well on the fierce heat of a barbecue. We must have all experienced sausages which are blackened on the outside and raw inside.

To make foolproof barbecue sausages first poach them for 30 minutes and then barbecue on residual heat for 5 - 10 minutes. The sausages will be already cooked. All the barbecue is doing is heating the sausages, adding colour and a smoky barbecue taste.

it still sounds minging, anyway we dont bbq
