it might be :D

i think hes just sick of people stealing cd's he creates, so to counter it, render it useless for copying!

h4te stealers!

back to OP though, I'd have to say no, surely apple would have already done this on itunes, as thats one of the ways round re-distributing tracks, download, burn cd, rip, viola..... unprotected mp3s

you do realise you're just trying to do what the record industry has been trying to do for decades, reproduction of music is a way of life, taping from the radio, sky plussing something off MTV, re-ripping an audio CD, it happens. and for the sake of 79p per track I think you need to tell your friend to get out a bit more.

Also, ask him if he's ever read this thread: http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/202642/just-thought-about-this-online-bett

I think the trick used by some is to burn the disc as a multisession CD, the first session being CD audio visible to CD players, the second second being data that only PCs will see. Not that this stops anyone copying, of course. You can't stop piracy. Nothing can.

true but most people i know use windows media player or nero to burn tracks so if its possible to make those programs fail to copy/rip....

But if he is in sole posession of the CD's how could people copy it without physicly stealing it from under his nose. Am I reading right??

I guess, maybe. I suppose a lot of casual listeners are maybe just hooked into iTunes just because they have Apple hardware and it's less virus-ridden than Limewire's average "beyonce - i am sasha feirce.mp3.exe" files, too. Piracy is getting rather complicated.

Although, I tend not to pirate that much music these days. Not since my month-long download session of every band I've ever had an interest in + the word "discography" added to the search phrase, anyway.
