Copying data onto dvd's

Some ones asked me if i can copy some recovery discs for my old laptop but there dvd's and i've not got any..
Can i just buy any dvd blanks or does it need to be a specific type?

Dont quote me but i think any type of dvd that your pc drive will write onto will be okay

depends on your 'old' drive format (might only write to DVD+R disks).

You can't necessarily just buy any DVD.
You need to check what your drive can write to.
