Coronation Street last night 26th Feb.

Did anyone see Coronation Street last night?

I for one do not want to see two men people getting out of bed adjusting their trousers/shirts after just having sex when I have my son watching the programme with me at 7.30pm.

Plus if I was Jamie I'd kick off if two fella's had just had a bit in my bed and hadn't changed the sheets!

You can tell I'm in work and am bored :whistling:

Yes, be sure to shield your son from reality, and make sure he builds up a nice set of prejudices as he grows older.
#2
I understand what your saying but this was 7.30pm though.
#3
Would you be saying the same thing if it was a man and a woman getting out of bed and adjusting their clothes? (I think you can guess what I'm trying to say here!)

Totally agree, todays reality is no longer ten years ago reality...best night out i had was in a gay club...and no i aint a fag hag or into women (although the bf asks!)
#5
I watched with my six year old son and neither he nor I had a problem with what was shown.
banned#6
you didnt actually see what they did in bed though!

i agree with bristoldeal, children need to be comfortable with relationships of all types.
i personally dont let my children watch the soaps cos i dont think they are old enough to fully understand what is going on, they are in bed before 7:30 anyways lol
#7
i didnt watch it...who was it?

i think soaps should have more gay/les in as kids should grow up knowing it is normal...and adults sometimes need to know its normal too...

i think to hit up on this story line, you could also bring up hollyoaks, school girl Amy giving birth on the kitchen floor in her uniform, the recent Becca storyline falling for her pupil, home and away ect, where teenagers talk about having sex ect, soaps will approach these subjects and its up to us as parents to deal with any questions that they bring from our children and discuss them as honestly and maturely as possibe given the age of the kids involved, hiding them from it will not help them in the long run as these topics and situations are being more widely accepted and will be even more so as our kids reach adulthood, all 3 of my kids were watching last night with me and the only comment that was made was by my eldest who is 12, which was ummmm doesn't he have a girlfriend? Tho my 2 boys 12 + 9 did have a giggle at hollyoaks when Russ and John Paul were in the gay club, but that was at the drag queen in the scene, kids will be kids :)

Spot on. I don’t think keeping your kids away from the “cultural” topics is a safe bet in the long run, as inevitably it will be part of there life at some point. No “graphic” images had been shown in this episode so im not sure if a child would fully understand what has gone on, and if he/she had known then obviously they already have the information. Can’t see an issue with the episode if im honest (apart from them not changing the sheets) :-(

I thought that the episode was ok, but they could of used the bomb to kill off some of the more annoying characters like vernon

good to see I'm not the only one who wants to get rid of those 2...maybe we should start a petition...

Not a massive tv fan myself but this is always on in our house for some strange reason.

Who here thinks that Steve McDonald plays one excellent part in this. His facial expressions and reactions when he is caught out doing something wrong are priceless, what a great actor he is.

I cant stand soaps, or the actors who think they are A lists celebs... but I will tolerate Hollyoaks for the eyecandy :p

Do people REALLY still watch soaps? they're all full of drivel. i actully had it on last night (purely by chance because it was on after the 15 stone 8 yr old programme and i then went on comp and couldn't be bothered turning tv over!) and i couldn't believe what utter rubbish they were churning out! and the bit where they blonde one (who won soapstar superstar) flicked his teeth at the end made me cringe ugh! I've absolutely nothing against gay people - i have the same reaction whenever anyone goes OTT but i agree with the OP here - there used to be a watershed for showing topics of a delicate nature before 9pm - what happened to that?

Noris is great! I went to my friends wedding in january and I swear the person doing it was Noris - looks, voice and personality! Couldnt keep a straight face, not great considering I was her witness!

Someone agrees with me:) As I said before I thought it was abit too early to be showing scenes of a certain nature.

Also I would not like my son (8 yr old) to be seeing a hetro couple in bed either, leave it till after 9pm when most young kids are in bed.

But its good to find out what peoples views are on subjects:)

They are getting their moneys worth out of Craig Charles (Lloyd) since his suspension for drug use, he's pratically in every scene now.

Couple of things. You do have options. There's always the 'off' switch. You had it on - 'by chance' - for 30 minutes before deciding to go on the computer????? How do you know they're full of drivel if you don't watch them, even though you knew who won soapstar superstar??

oOoOoOo - i feel like i'm being interrogated!! :giggle: NOT that it's *anyones* business HOW i know who won SS, but i'll explain myself anyway :) - i work in a busy office and you can't help but miss things like this when it's all most of them talk about all day. that's the problem when they put shows like this on every night for 2 weeks or whatever

And, errrr, *no* - i didn't have it on for 30 minutes before going on computer, it was WHILE i was on it. Anyway, as i previously said i WAS watching an interesting programme and when this finished i went straight on the computer, leaving the tv on the same channel. Coronation Street was on (don't tell me no-ones ever left the tv on whilst doing something else?? :whistling: ) and i watched the tv 'sporadically' and i have to say it was the worst acting and storylines that i think i've ever seen!!:w00t:

Can i go now?:giggle:

Did i say that?:? the question here was rather much about the content of soaps at that particular time of day, not who chooses to watch them. I said that *i* personally thought they were full of drivel. I think you need to read things how they're meant before commenting

Quite right............ If you don't agree with the content of the soap, the timing, the acting, the fact it's on when you're on the computer, or you think they're full of drivel - then there is the off switch. Try using it.

oh, for GODS SAKE, give it a rest. Just because i don't agree with you. If you care to read my post *PROPERLY* you will see that i *don't * watch soaps as a rule, now run along dear and go find someone else to have an argument with.
#33
Oh, for GODS SAKE - it's only a discussion. Calm down love.
#34
woohoo this is better than coronation street, anyday!
#35
yeah this rocks lol.
#36
well, she started it by criticizing anybody who watches soaps!! (burn them at the stake) She'll probably have a right hissy fit now!x ........... and call me 'dear' again!!
#37
no...it will be....my dad's harder than your dad next!!

How VERY mature :whistling:

So, just because someone doesn't agree with watching soaps makes them some sort of villain in your eyes does it? How? Please explain! You really are extremely childish and your responses (and that of your cohorts) don't do anything for your cause that you appeal for - being that soaps are not mindless drivel - which judging by your comments, are also watched by some mindless people.

If you've nothing decent to say regarding the actual question posed by the author then please don't clog up threads.
If you want a personal argument, for whatever reason  then please feel free to pm me and get it off your chest...dear :-D
