I bought a new black dishwasher mainly because it was cheap and it looked good. But there seems to be a slight problem. The frame/plank at the bottom part of the dishwasher is misaligned. I had it installed by third party and it is all working fine except that the front panel looks slightly out of line- probably 1cm. The company sent out an engineer as it was under their warranty but he seems that it is a manufacturer's defect. But he confirmed that it wont effect its function in any way.

Now my question is- Can I claim for some discount or compensation? There is no way I want to send it back because I will land up spending a lot on its installation.

I have to call the company tomorrow so any help/advice before that is appreciated.

thanks in advance

The company is liable even if it is a manufacture defect. Your contract is with them, not the manufacturer.

HOWEVER, often, the manufacturers are a lot more helpful then the retailers.

I ordered a dryer from tesco, or may of been comet. The company who delivered it where great.

They deliver white goods for loads of retailers, they unpacked it and took a photo with their PDA which I signed to confirm delivery...

Because of the photo they treated it with great respect getting it into the house..

Might be the company will deliver a new dishwasher but i don't think they will install it. they didnt do it the first time because of some wiring issue. I had built-in dishwasher initially which i wanted to replace with this free standing one. So the people who bought it said they wont install it. So i spent a bit more to get rewiring and plugging to get it installed. So even if they deliver another one, i might land up calling someone again and spending on installation.

All i want to call and tell them is 'I will keep this 'faulty' dishwasher but can you refund some money as damage compensation?'

If so, how much discount?

call then and tell them whats wrong, they will hopefully offer to exchange to which you reply how you have had to pay to get it installed etc etc, dont want the agro, can they offer you a discount, but you'll be very lucky to get any more than 10 percent for cosmetic damage.
