Could somebody please help me with a sky+ problem? Thanks

For some reason I can't watch any recorded programmes, when I go into the planner and select what I want to watch it gives me the information about the programme and how long its on for etc but when I press select nothing happens. It wont even let me get out of it by pressing backup, I have to press tv guide. There is nothing wrong with my select or backup buttons as these work fine in the tv guide. I've tried using the buttons on front of the machine but it still doesn't work. I've also tried turning the machine off at the mains but still no joy. Anybody know how I can get it working, or what I'm doing wrong?

pull the power lead out and plug it back in again.

Go into the hidden menu by selecting: -

SERVICES, 4, 0, 1, SELECT.

Then choose the option cleanup.

Ok thanks. Just did that and its taken me to the Installer Setup. The choices I've got are
1 LNB Setup
2 Default Transponder
3 Telephone Settings
4 RF Outlets
5 Manual Tuning
6 New Installation
7 Sky+ Planner Rebuild
8 Full System Reset.

Is it number 7 I've got to select?

Ok thanks, just done that and it turned its self off, I've just pressed tv guide and gone back into the planner but its still not working.

If neither the installers menu or a full reboot helped I think you have lost your shows.

They are all still on there, I just cant select them. When you do that reboot thing is the machine supposed to turn off? If so does it come back on when its finished rebooting or do I need to turn it back on?

I can't remember if it comes back on it's own or not.

Once it has finished and allows you to use it again it should be fixed. I have had the same problem as you in the past and this method fixed it.

Yes, but what he is saying is, the next step would be to format the drive and do a full reset which will obviously delete your shows.

If planner rebuild didnt work and a reboot didnt work, you have no other real option

Planner rebuild should should see the "Housekeeping please wait" message. It can take up to two minutes for the housekeeping message to disappear.

Your Sky box will then carry out the procedure, switch itself off and then switch itself back on automatically and wait in standby mode.

Try downloading the software again

Unplug from mains, hold backup button (on the box NOT remote!), keep pressing and plug back into mains, keep pressing then in about 30 seconds a message will appear, you can then let go and it will download latest software to the box

you will not loose recordings doing this :)

I've had to reset the whole thing which has deleted my programmes. I've just recorded something as a test so I'll try and see if that plays back.

Looks like i was too late m8, a software download usually solves most problems without deleting anything,

its worth doing anyway to make sure you have the latest version
